With apartment 22 having been… forcibly remodeled by an incredibly apologetic Jeanne, Harriet and Sophie ended up staying with Sam up in apartment 33. It was easier to keep an eye on all the kids like this, anyways.
Sam, unable to allow any guest to sleep on the floor, gave Harriet his bedroom, leaving him to make do with a pillow and blanket on the hard living room floor.
Day three of this arrangement, and Harriet can’t accept this anymore, inviting Sam to share the bedroom with her for the night.
…and as soon as the door is shut behind them, it becomes obvious that sleeping was the last thing on Harriet’s mind when she made the offer.

It had started perfectly innocently. Offers to cook dinner tonight, or wash the dishes. You know, small favors, nothing too strange. Dan and Leigh just wanted to help their host out! Honest to god!

Nicole was adverse to loud noises to say the least. Turns out it’s hard to unhear the bang from the gun that causes your Dad’s suicide.
She’d gotten better at disguising her reaction to it. Hiding how she shakes when there’s a distant gunshot, playing off the flinches when someone drops something unexpectedly. But in her own house, she never truly tried to hide it. Because no one was ever here to pay attention to how she started hyperventilating and having a mental breakdown during thunderstorms.

Leigh shifts some of her borderline-feral-wrestler-with-a-grudge attention towards Hellen, eventually goading her into a confrontation. Hellen intends to squash the conflict so she can get some peace and quiet. Leigh intends to go full werewolf off the buckle. Ultimately, they both figure some weird stuff out in the process.
(Hellen struggles with trying to keep her bloodlust under control enough to not fuck her life up. Leigh was troubled even before she was a shapeshifting monster hanging out in a black void.)
