Set about 100 years in the past before the events of the game, this is me creating a whole ass world building because I was given fragments of lore, so I will make the most of it to my enjoyment. Summary
Union brass expected that Teleya's capture would lead to heightened aggression from the Krill. Instead, their entire fleet withdrew, leaving the rest of the galaxy to pick up the pieces. This would not have been a problem for the crew of the Orville, at least until they were voluntold their new assignment: escort the Krill ambassador to Za'ar for negotiations.
All they had to do is get Ambassador Ayhrov from Point A to Point B, teach him what little they knew about the elusive Za'ari people, and try to keep him in one piece. Everything should have gone smoothly.
Instead of spending her time digging in the dirt, as most xenobotanists preferred to spend their time, Ensign Nia Bridges suddenly found herself thrust into teaching, rising political tensions, the ever-growing threat of war, ecological disaster, and then getting kidnapped.
And that was just the easy part.
How on Earth was she supposed to do her regular job, mandatory "volunteer" duty shifts, babysitting, translating, and teaching Ambassador Ayhrov all while being pretend-married to him and trying to avoid being stabbed?

Perhaps it was a remnant of her youth and her upbringing, but Iseult had never particularly cared for spiders. She did not like their long, spindly legs, nor the swift way they crawled along walls and floors. As a child, her father would mutter an inaudible prayer under his breath as he squished errant creepy-crawlies under an indigo thumb. She quickly learned not to ask him why he did it - there was quite a bit he did she would never understand, it seemed.
Besides, there was little she could do about the not-spider before her, let alone crush him beneath the pad of a finger.
Iseult uses music to soothe the restless spirit and broken mind of the drider Kar'niss.

Astarion would really like to question how things turned out the way they did but he already knew, hindsight and all that. Now he was miserable and alone while almost wishing he had torn Tav's throat out all that time ago. However, if it hadn't been for that whole mess he would still have had a Tadpole in his head and would have ended up turning into a slave and a Monster for why not, with his luck he hadn't even been surprised. He had been resigned to his fate more than anything. What's another shitty thing in a pile of shit, just more of the same. At least he was free, at least he was as alive as he was gonna get.

Summary of first chapter:
Astarion ends up living in the sewers slowly starving. Abandoned by his former lover Tav and the new paramour Gale that are searching for the crown not knowing that Astarion has already hidden it out of Spite.Warning, English is my second language, No Beta reader here, apparently people like to mention that so, it has now been mentioned.
