Summary
“A pig,” Mira deadpanned with all the sarcasm her scrawny, fifteen-year-old, voice-cracking self could muster. It was quite a lot, all things considered.
“Boar,” Celine corrected.
“You want us to hunt down and kill a pig.”
“If you survive, you will learn to summon your sacred weapons from the Honmoon.” Celine pulled a glowing sword out of thin air, which was so fucking cool that Mira almost, almost, didn’t register the first half of the sentence.
“Wait, survive?”
Hunters did a lot of weird shit in the name of tradition, and it was unclear how much of it had been distorted over time. Except this was so weird that Mira was convinced there was no sacred initiation rite and Celine might just be a little bonkers.
Either way, between Zoey’s smarts, Mira’s stubbornness, and Rumi’s… Rumi-ness, any challenge placed before them should be a piece of cake.
That's what Mira thought, at least, until she saw the Murder Pig.
They were all going to die, and it was absolutely Celine’s fault.

The sun was setting now, casting long shadows over the hills and rocks. “Kpop demon hunters,” Zoey thought again. She giggled. Now she knew she was crazy. But as crazy as it was Zoey couldn’t help but feel something warm bloom inside of her whenever she thought about it. Sure Rumi was a bit odd and Mira was…someone she would have to get used to being around, but Zoey could somehow imagine a world where they would do something extraordinary together.

Pre-debut huntrix learns to navigate life and communication and loving each other before stepping out onto the stage. They may all be seriously emotionally stunted, but love wins all in the end. (I promise:))

Summary
So maybe Zoey wasn't always the most perceptive person when it came to other people. She was smart though, and the clues had started to add up. They'd been adding up for years, and Zoey had been keeping notes. Sixty-two ideas had slowly been narrowed down into five final ideas.
The last option seemed absurd, but everything pointed in that direction. Rumi was a demon.
It's the night following the awkward signing with the Saja Boys, and Zoey know it's time for she and Rumi to have a talk. She'd come to the right conclusion, but that didn't make this any less difficult. Dealing with Rumi's secret was a lot, but they'd tackle it together.
New Rumi. New Zoey. New day.
