Everyone in New Elfington knew that, if you wanted something good to eat and you didn’t want to bust your wallet, you went to Tostaada’s Cafe and Bakery.
It wasn’t a particularly fancy place—it sat on the first floor of the building that took up the corner of Broadway and Main, built out of old red bricks with windows that were permanently fogged up. The sign above the door was written in both faded Common and Elvish, the letters curling and the paint cracked.
The food, however, was damn good.
A story about finding your way home, and finding out that maybe home wasn't as far away as you previously thought.

Taako had just wanted to spend a nice night at the ball. Sure, he wasn't supposed to be at the ball, but that didn't mean he couldn't have a nice night there anyway. He wasn't even planning on meeting the prince. He told himself he was going to play it safe, just mill about for a few hours, drink all the fancy drinks and eat the fancy hors d'oeuvre and maybe steal some of the expensive silverware, but that was it.
He didn't plan on an announcement going out to the world of his engagement to Prince Kravitz. Especially since they weren't, you know, actually engaged. Or even knew each other. All they could do was go along with the ruse until they thought of some way out of it.
Pretending to be engaged probably shouldn't be this much fun.

One petty theft and fumbled meetings later, Kravitz finds himself with a budding rivalry between himself and the weirdly charming owner of the food truck, Taako - and between avoiding Barry's offers of dinner with his wifes brother and finding himself suddenly a pawn in a revenge game, Kravitz finds himself in a very, very frustrating situation.

She bites her lip worriedly, not meeting his gaze.
Lup and Taako crash land outside the tiny village of Faerun. Lup's lucky enough to find somewhere to recuperate, but she soon discovers that she's feeling something she never expected for the man taking care of her. Taako's lost, alone, and scared, but he knows one thing - he'll raze this planet to the ground to find Lup.

Everyone keeps telling him he's in heaven, and he knows fairly certainly, based on what kinds of people surround him, he was not meant to go to heaven.
After some convincing, panicking and threatening, his soulmate, Kravitz, reluctantly agrees to help him become a better person, and so ensues a wandering tripwire maze of Taako desperately trying to make himself belong, his two frazzled neighbors asking more questions than they should, and the whole afterlife being flipped upside down, because nobody here is who they claim they are.
But everything will work out one day, after all.
Because this is The Good Place!
