Summary
Jimmy grows unexpectedly violent towards Curly in a moment of disappointment, frustration, and resentment. All this over a promised beer he’d lost at the hands of a simple misjudgment of the time the two men had spent together on a late-night workout at their local gym seemed excessive. But, the more hits are landed and threats are made, it takes Curly less and less effort to see through the various layers of aggression and bitterness in Jimmy’s actions and words. Realizing the sheer number of grudges underneath it all could have been of aid in attempts of trying to somewhat reason with his friend, but that doesn’t take long to reveal itself as a far from easily accomplished feat.

Jimmy's the same as he left him--white undershirt discarded on the floor in a crumpled heap, jumpsuit buttoned so low on his torso it might as well not be buttoned at all, sweat pooling at the divot of his collarbones. Curly takes this all in through his peripheral vision, eyes locked to the other's face like his life depends on it.

He throws a pretty dress at him and tells him to go into a room to put it on so he can go “entertain” Thorfinn. The men jest promising the “slave girl” a reward if she gets him to do it with him since Thorfiinn usually rejects all the women Askeladd and the men send. Thorfinn is presented with the woman and decides he does want her and takes her back to his cabin! Canute tries to play into it a little bit, feeling cocky and like he can tease Thorfinn a bit…
