Summary
Grian could not believe that Scar would betray him for a piece of paper. After everything they had been through together, he struggled to understand how Scar could throw it all away. Grian had thought he had meant something. He had thought, foolishly, that someone loved him. That he was worth something. He was wrong. He was always wrong.
or the ending of Third Life but angst and then fluff

Summary
Xisuma had tried so hard to protect the world he called his own. Xisuma had given everything he had to protect his players. The people who had given him their trust. The people who he had watched form a community. The people who had dragged him into their games and looked at him with such light in their eyes. Even now Xisuma could feel the world calling out to him as it struggled to not collapse around him. It was calling for him. He was its admin and while it was not a person it would be a bold mistake not to call it alive. It was his and he was its. An admin and a server.
He felt it scream and writhe in pain and he could do nothing to soothe its worries and except watch as it burned. It was dying and he could not save it. The only thing he could do was simply gaze upon his people in their home. His home. His love. His humanity. His Hermits.
Or the Watchers destroy Hermitcraft. Little did they know, Hermitcraft is a people not a place.

Summary
Joel stepped into the void again, his worn sneakers skimming the air like ripples on an invisible pond, the weight of his friends’ lives pulling heavier than gravity ever could. The last time Joel walked on the void, he'd promised himself it would be the last—but promises, like clouds, were easy to tread on and even easier to break. The void stretched before him, endless and indifferent, daring him to tread its fragile nothingness. He’d sworn he wouldn’t come back—not after last time. But promises were whispers in the wind when lives hung in the balance. A memory flickered in his mind: the day he first leapt, his laughter echoing through the sky, untouchable. Now, the same power felt more like a shackle than freedom.
or Joel has the power of running on air and Jimmy and Grian need help. Joel overexerts himself.

Summary
Hermitcraft was supposed to be safe.
It was whitelisted to hell and back, with firewalls so robust that people came just to tour their security. Their void was remote, and even the usual connection between End City’s was pinched with enchantments so tight, that it meant the spiderweb cracks connecting it to the greater Game were only passable if you knew where they were—
And only Hermits knew where they were. Whoever these people were, they weren’t Hermits.

Summary
In 1967, Regulus Black loses a game of hide-and-seek.
In 1979, he is dragged, alive, from the underground lake.
In 1980, he turns reluctant spy for the Order.
These events are not connected.
But there’s a strange thread weaving through Regulus’s life, a splitting seam in the tapestry of his memories, a bogeyman that shadows his steps, and he can’t quite shake the feeling that he's missed something essential...

Summary
"I don't want to pry," Xisuma said when they were speaking before his official invitation to join. "And not answering won't change whether or not you get whitelisted. We admins just prefer to have a heads up if anything's likely to come trying to dig you up, so we can keep you and everyone else safe."
Grian thought back to obsidian and endstone and blood, to tattered wings and torn robes and so so many unseeable eyes, and swallowed hard.
"No," he said, his voice shaky. "No, I don't think anyone will come looking for me."
"Okay," Xisuma answered, and that was that.
Until they invited two new people to the server.
or, the Hermitcraft Backstory Rule says that you don't ask other people about their backstory, you let them tell it if they want to and leave it be if they don't.
Unfortunately for Grian, one of the newest Hermits was also a player on his old server - one he'd thought had been dead for years - and she's going to drag his backstory kicking and screaming into the light whether she means to or not.

Summary
When the handle of the axe connects, Mumbo can’t move his hands to react or do anything at all, really. He’s still fixed his gaze somewhere next to a tree with the emotion clogging his throat of “Grian’s alive” and the secondary, slightly more horrified emotion of “they think he hurt Grian.”
Then the impact registers with a sickening crack of noise and pain, and fireworks explode behind his eyes before black sweeps him under.
(an exploration of "anywhere we want" by JumpingInMuddyPuddles, but if Mumbo had contracted a concussion from Tango.)

Summary
“I think we have a neighbour,” Scar tells him, tiny hat perched on his head, and Impulse frowns.
“You mean Cub?” he says, because Cub’s the only other person he can think of in the immediate vicinity.
“Oh, no, no,” Scar says. “I meant of the ghostly variety.”In which Impulse is haunted by a very sad ghost.

This is so fantastic. The ghost idea is so amazing and I absolutely recommend. This is wonderfully written.
