"It sounds like a very sweet song, but I don't understand the title. How do you... kill someone softly?""It's not meant literally, baka," Nami rolls her eyes. "This woman talks about a musician who seems to be telling her emotions and her life through his music. She feels herself dying softly because she has no secrets with him and it scares her."
Luffy leans closer. The dim late afternoon light brings out the sweat-shining skin on his forehead, under his dark locks of hair, and down his neck.
"I just don't see why it's scary to find someone who understands you," he whispers.
"No, you don't understand. It's scary," she insists, lifting herself up on her elbows; the sheet covering their intertwined bodies slides down, revealing Luffy's bare chest and shoulders. "Destabilizing."
Luffy smiles. He clearly doesn't know that word but perhaps he has figured out what Nami means and leans forward, also lifting himself up on his elbow to have her close again.
"You don't understand it at a-..." Nami whispers, and before she can utter the last syllable, Luffy's lips are on hers, his body erases the distance that separates them.
