Jiang Cheng collapsed onto his couch at 3:00 in the morning, arm slung over his eyes, ignoring the sword still digging into his hip underneath him. Honestly, it was a miracle he’d bothered to kick his shoes off at the door to his apartment when he’d finally staggered through the door just a few moments ago, exhausted as he was. He’d slept with Sandu sticking into more painful places, and he just couldn’t bring himself to care.
But before he could fall asleep despite the discomfort of his sword in his side, he heard a new sound. An unusual sound, despite it being a relatively normal one.
The sound of a neighbor. When he’d left the apartment that morning (yesterday morning? whatever), he hadn’t had a neighbor.

Summary
Truly, if Jiang Cheng could be doing anything in the world, it’s probably not this. Maybe it’s an extension of his dream job, but going undercover as an eye-candy server at Lan Xichen’s party as a top secret mission for Jin Corp. is a combination of two things on sheer opposite sides of his affinity spectrum, balancing his mood to neutral. Neutral meaning mild distaste, for Jiang Cheng.
Alternatively: Jiang Cheng is a spy and his current mission is to get into Mega Gay Crime Boss™ Lan Xichen's pants for some intel.

How ridiculous. Wei Wuxian probably purchased this from some charlatan witch doctor on the street. Heavens knew what it was supposed to do nor what it actually did—if anything.
Rolling his eyes, Jiang Cheng threw away the note, then stuck the incense burner in a random spot on his bookcase where it would remain until he decided to throw it out.
He had nearly forgotten all about the stupid gift until Lan Xichen visited a few weeks later.
AKA Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen encounter the incense burner and fun times ensue
