Summary
[voice memo from Achilles, 12:16 AM]
[background noise: the soft hum of a war camp at night, the crackle of a dying fire]
"patroclus, i’m drunk and thinking about your hands. thinking about how you held my spear today, which sounds like a euphemism but isn’t, except maybe it is. but not in the way you think. it’s just. you look good holding anything dangerous. maybe even me. maybe especially me."[unsent voice memo from Achilles, 12:17 AM]
[soft background music, maybe a lyre, maybe just the sound of the night]
“sometimes i think i was born from war, like i came out of my mother’s womb swinging a sword. but you— you feel like the first thing that wasn't a battle. and i don't know what to do with that. except hold on. tight. maybe too tight."a character study of Achilles and Patroclus

Summary
"I … I don't get what I’m meant to do. I just throw my food into the fire and ... talk?" James, a son of Hermes asked -- Percy could recognise those blue eyes and elfish facial features anywhere.
Percy grinned, "Yeah, that's pretty much it."
James hesitated before looking down at his feet, "But ... Hermes has a lot of children more powerful and more popular than me. What would I even ask him for? It's not like he cares."
Maybe it was because Percy was reminded of that promise he wrangled from the gods at age sixteen, but one moment he was looking at the younger camper, and the next he was throwing some of his food into the fire and asking Poseidon for some Disneyland tickets very, very loudly.
But even though he wasn't quite sure how it happened, the small, shocked laugh that James let out made it worth it.
Or
Percy sees that some of the newer campers don't feel 100% comfortable with requesting stuff from their godly parents, so he decides to rectify that the only way he knows how -- dramatically.

“Sure,” Boris replies, “happens all the time. Probably because we’re both gay. Anyway, do you want vanilla ice cream to go on top?”
Or: Boris “fuck-me pumps” Palikovsky and Theodore “gay and homophobic” Decker realize that, as the two worst people on the planet, they’re pretty much made for each other.

Book 24 of the Iliad retelling
“I can see you understand that death becomes a welcome friend after grief takes root inside of us” Priam’s voice is soft, the hard regal edge it possessed in the beginning gone. What does he have to hide, how could he pretend? Two men with sorrow in their heart. Death is calling to them. They can hear him louder and louder with each day that passes.
“Give him to me Achilles.”
The demigod’s eyes snap to his own, they are so red. His face is haunting, the bones sharper than they’ve ever been.
“Your son- “
“I know what he did, but everyone deserves rest.”
Achilles is looking at him unblinking, a lion tired and wounded, a young man who has seen nothing of the world but these shores which he has soaked in blood. A boy who was once happy.

Summary
Heroes rarely lead happy lives and it was often the ones they loved most who bore the brunt of the pain, and Achilles loved Patroclus with the type of love that only gods and the extremely god-blooded could. The gods unfortunately did not like to be rivaled in anything.
(Patroclus was god-blooded and talented too—more so than he thought, even—and the strength of his love rivaled the strength of Achilles for him, but it was of a more mortal type that allowed room for distance and even death. Achilles’s affection was godly in ways even Heracles could not match.)
A few drabbles--not quite a 5+1--about the relationship of Achilles and Patroclus, and the ways they are different and alike. Starts light but ends pretty angsty.
+1 is up! There is Romans and shrines and cults and an island!

Summary
But Atreus's son the fighting Menelaus marked it all-
the Trojans killing Patroclus there in the brutal carnage-
and crested now in his gleaming bronze gear Atrides
plowed through the front to stand astride the body,
braced like a mother cow lowing over a calf.
her first-born, first labor-pangs she'd felt.
So the red-haired captain bestrode Patroclus now.
shielding his corpse with spear and round buckler,
burning to kill off any man who met him face-to-face.Patroclus of Opus did not live long, but his life was rich, full of love and laughter. That he be remembered for his death and only his death seems very unfair to Menelaus. He wants to remember his life, as hard as that is at Troy.

Summary
“But I want you to fuck me, do you know why,” Patroclus said between heavy breaths.
“No,” Achilles said while nipping at a particularly sensitive spot on his neck.
“No one else fucks me like you.”
If Achilles were younger he would have come from those words alone. “Say that again.”
“No. One. Fucks. Me. Like. You. Fuck. Me,” Patroclus repeated back slowly. He raised his eyebrows. “No one could.”
“Some days I think you might kill me, love."
It's bronze age Greece and Achilles and Patroclus are not exactly exclusive, but sometimes you want to spend the full day with your boy. Too bad literally everyone else keeps getting in the way, and Patroclus has some plans of his own.

Summary
“Achilles?” He reaches out to touch his shoulder only to find his skin is far too hot to be considered normal. “It’s me. Are you okay?”
Achilles’ movements are slow as he lifts himself up - also a note of concern, for Achilles was never slow in anything, even if he was incredibly drunk - but when his eyes meet Patroclus’ he seems to freeze.
“Oh,” he mumbles out, like he wasn’t expecting this at all. Then, his mouth curls into a smile. “Hello.”

Summary
Achilles did not know how long he dozed, his arms circled protectively around the one thing in the world he had left to care for. He only knew that at some point, the soft flesh beneath his cheek began to warm. He thought nothing of it at first, thinking it was only the heat from his own body reflecting back at him, but he froze when, out of nowhere, the chest he lay against rose beneath him before falling, then rising again.

"Okay but I just realized
In the Iliad, Achilles loved Patroclus to the point where Zeus had to intervene and restrain his rage because he knew that Achilles’ anger could defy fate and destroy Troy before it was meant to fall.
Achilles’ rage at Patroclus’ death could elude fate itself.
That’s how much he loved him."Where the gods are unable to stop Achilles from seeking revenge and changing fate.
