Last night had been the best night of Troy's life. He'd scored two goals. The whole team had wrapped rainbow tape on their sticks and he had kissed Harris in front of reporters. His mother had surprised him by showing up at the game, and he'd told his father to go to hell, all in the same night, then come back to his apartment and fucked his boyfriend twice.
Now he was lying in bed while Harris made GIFs about all of it.
It wasn't a complaint. It was just…weird. A weird morning. He was out. Out and proud.
Troy had been so focused on coming out that he hadn't thought much about what the morning after looked like.
Turned out, the morning after was pretty chill, except his fucking phone exploding.

Summary
Bucky Barnes has a lot to contend with in the 21st century. One difficult task after another is laid out in front of him: managing his new found freedom, attending therapy and working through his trauma. It's a struggle, but recovery is not a straight line, as his therapist so often likes to remind him.
He has to navigate this friendship / relationship / whatever it is with Sam all the while managing his guilt and shame for his years as the Winter Soldier, and his grief over Steve's death. Then of course there’s these new super soldiers that have appeared out of nowhere that have to be dealt with, along with the frustrating inclusion of new faces, like Walker, and the familiar, like Zemo.
And then there is another task, one that sometimes seems to be the most difficult task of all: learning to be kind to his past self.
Rewrite / fix it of TFATWS – you do not need to read the other parts of this series, this works as a standalone. Pre TFATWS to about three months after the series ends. Not just a rehash of the TV series, I like to bounce off canon and do my own thing. I generally update fortnightly.

Seven Years Ago when Tony Stark went missing in Afghanistan, his almost eight year old son, Peter James Edwin Stark, was placed in foster care. When Tony returned, it was to the news that his son had been killed when a fire had broken out in the foster home and only the neglectful caretakers survived the blaze.
Now, one year after Ultron and Sokovia, Tony Stark and Pepper Potts have decided to act as foster parents in an attempt to keep what happened to Peter from happening to anyone else. Of course, the spider-themed vigilante in town may make this venture that much harder. Can’t Tony just get a break?
Peter Parker has no memory of his life before he was 7. He’s spent the last seven years in foster care wishing nothing more than to find a forever family. He thought the Parkers were going to be that family, but an unfortunate accident two years ago left Peter and their three children once again at the mercy of the system.
When Peter fights back against his foster father, Skip Westcott, he and his foster siblings end up at Avengers Tower, Peter has to figure out how to hide his nightly activities and Tony needs to figure out just why this teenager and his dead son have so much in common.

Thank God someone said it. Jesus.
“Yes. Good idea. Yeah, yep, yes, please.”
The Stark’s are rushed out of the room and Peter jumps far away from the door in order to not have to touch them right now. He needs to be far away. The only person that doesn’t leave is the social worker lady, and that's fine. She’s not a liar. She’s the only one giving him any choices today.
“Can we open that window, please?” He requests, finally giving in and sitting down.
The woman rushes to the window, pushing it up.
“Do you want to talk? Or just sit here?”
He has no idea what to say, but also, if he sits here in silence he’ll probably explode. When he doesn’t respond right away, still breathing unevenly, she makes a comment on a bird she sees outside. It’s a red cardinal, apparently when you see one it means someone who passed away is watching over you.
He likes this woman.

Or, Peter has been homeless since the blip, and then the Stark’s eventually find out and adopt him.

Her dad is working non-stop and her extended family of emotionally constipated superheroes are just as uncomfortable with her grief as their own. To top it off, she can't stop dreaming about a brother she's never had and all the trouble he might be in. When she convinces Tony to take her with him on a work trip to Caltech, she meets a student who looks a lot like the boy in her dreams. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem very interested in her. Good thing her dad always knows what to do.
A sort of No Way Home, Everyone Lives (Except May and Pepper) Fix It story, where Morgan channels major Pepper Potts vibes, Tony channels major concerned Dad vibes, and Peter channels major college age-Tony Stark vibes. Served with a splash of angst, a heap of trauma, and a sprig of making adults take proper care of one depressed spider child.

Instead, he sits on the edge of an apartment building’s roof and rolls up the bottom of his mask, gulps in burning lungfuls of the unforgiving night air, and tugs his mask back on. Crime stops for no one, not even Spiderman.
Or: May dies, and Peter devolves into homelessness and isolation. Past demons reappear, old wars are waged, and it feels like Peter has no one to turn to, not even Mr. Stark. Like always, Peter’s life gets better before it gets worse, and it gets worse before it gets better.

Brought together once more, Harry finds an unlikely companion in Draco, in between sessions. Draco, whose glare has softened. Draco, who no longer relies on his name to get by.
Draco, who might know Harry's struggles a little better than Harry gives him credit for.
