Summary
Stiles opens his eyes, and suddenly everything feels real.
It's harsh, harsher than anything he's felt in years. The lights above him are a blinding white, the tabletop under his back too cold, his sweat sticky on his skin. There are faces leaning over him, wide eyes and concerned words too grating on his ears.
He closes his eyes again. Just a moment ago he'd had Sam in his arms, the little pup sniffling weakly against his shoulder as he rocked the boy back and forth. There had been a thunderstorm in the middle of the night, and it had woken the boys up. He and Derek had to go into their room to calm them down, hold them and rock them back to sleep. Aaron had already passed out on Derek's shoulder, and he'd been putting the boy back into his bed. Sam was fussy, was always more fussy between the two of them, more afraid of lightning and thunder, and Stiles was just whispering something to Derek about getting blackout curtains for the boys' room.
And now he's here.

Admittedly, Stiles had been driving too fast. The adrenaline running through him had made his foot heavier on the gas pedal than usual, Derek’s desperate face still fresh in his mind as he’d thrown Eli at him and begged him to run.

Summary
Stiles starts seeing the wolf out of the corner of his eye, like a hallucination. It’s in the woods at the edge of the school parking lot, in the bushes outside his bedroom window at night, behind every tree in the Preserve. Stiles is positive at least half of the instances are just his mind playing tricks on him, a combination of paranoia, Adderall, and sleepless nights either gaming or studying magic tomes lent to him by Deaton.
Besides, the wolf looks exactly like the drawing Deaton showed them: massive, black, and with glowing red eyes. It’s not worth telling the pack about, so Stiles keeps it to himself.

Summary
Exactly two weeks and two days after Jeongguk had left pack grounds, he was spotted by a border patrol. Yoongi was the first to inform him, running up to Seokjin as he was meeting with a few pack elders.
“Jeongguk is coming up from the southern border,” Yoongi said. “He’s injured, and he has company.”
Before Seokjin could ask what that meant he caught movement at the edge of the pack’s central clearing, two wolves emerging from the trees. Seokjin immediately began walking towards them, uncaring of the elders he was leaving behind. As he got closer he noticed a few things he couldn’t see from afar. One, that Jeongguk’s companion, a smaller, sandy brown wolf, was walking with a significant limp in their front paw, and had to lean on Jeongguk for support. Blood matted various areas of their blond fur, and even Jeongguk didn’t appear to be completely unscathed. Finally, and most strikingly, Seokjin noticed something in Jeongguk’s mouth: a small, sandy-colored pup that hung limply from where Jeongguk had them scruffed.

Summary
Zuko goes into exile with a scar, a mission, and a wife.
The girl wears ill fitted ceremonial silks. She is too thin, with jutting bones and hollowed eyes. Dirt smudges her cheek. Her lower lip has a healing split in it. Gaudy as her finery is, she wears it like prisoner’s rags.
All of this Zuko registers in the time it takes him to reach the dais and bow. Every muscle aches with the remembrance of what happened the last time he knelt before Father. This time there is no begging, no roar of the crowd, no burning. Still—Zuko’s grateful to stand once more.
Slipping into soldier’s parade rest, he waits for what will come next, all too aware of the girl’s defiant body next to his.
“I am told that this is Katara of the Southern Water Tribe,” Father says, cruel amusement oiling his words. The phrasing makes the girl sound like a thing. “The last waterbender of their pathetic tribe.” Flames conceal all but his shadow, yet Zuko knows from long experience the exacting blade of his father’s smirk. The smirk he must surely wear now. Because he has built up his insult and now he lets it fall. “Your bride.”
