The hardwood begs for mercy as a short, very vexed looking man literally stomps up to the counter and slams a twenty down in front of Richie. His hair is dark and messy - like he tried to style it in the morning today, but Chicago’s humidity dashed that dream upon the rocks - and his brows are knit together in obvious frustration. He’s wearing blue jeans and a smudged white t-shirt, all smelling clearly of motor oil.

The man looked up again and when the curls fell out of his face Eddie’s eyes moved from the photographer’s jaw over his cheeks to his eyes. He was smiling at Eddie and the corners of his eyes wrinkled adorably when he did so. Maybe he didn’t have to be miserable and lonely tonight after all.[Eddie goes to his ex-boyfriend's wedding and it sucks until he meets Richie. Shenanigans and devastatingly honest talks ensue.]

Richie Tozier might be forty, but that doesn't mean he's any better at being an adult. In fact, if pressed, he would probably even admit to barely knowing what he's doing half the time. His life is a mess, he thinks maybe his girlfriend doesn't like him very much, but the most pressing issue is he doesn't know how to to cook a fucking steak.
Thank god for the short, snarky asshole in the super market that does actually know how to be an adult, and thank god that he's willing to help Richie out.
Or, this is the fic where the clown doesn't fucking exist, but somehow the universe is still trying to get Richie and Eddie together.

Summary
Richie's new cat Ketchup gives a whole new meaning to the phrase 'cat burglar' when she starts to steal things from a house in the neighbourhood. Specifically socks and junk. Richie thinks nothing of it until he receives a rude letter from the owner of the items, and somehow finds himself swapping notes back and forth to this mystery man - via his cat.
As if that wasn't enough, there's a new station manager at Derry's local radio station where Richie works, and he has to ask himself if it's weirder to be falling for his boss or for a man he's never met.
......There's no way the two situations are connected, is there??

Eddie raised an eyebrow as he took a step closer. “You have a dessert emergency at…” He checked the time on his watch. “Eight-thirty-nine at night?”
“Yes,” the guy said. “Look, I have a very important event tomorrow. It’s my best friend’s little brother’s birthday party- he’s turning ten, so it’s kind of a big deal, you know? Anyways, I was in charge of the cake, and well, I guess there’s no good way to put it- but I completely forgot about the cake. But I can’t forget about the cake, because it’s the kid’s tenth fucking birthday, and I promised him the best cake in the world, and if I don’t deliver just that, his day will be ruined, and it will be my fault.” The guy paused to finally take a breath. He looked up at Eddie, and put on a desperate smile. “So, I need one cake, please and thank you.”
“We’re closed,” Eddie repeated.

“Don’t mind me. I’m just hamming it up.” He holds up the lunch meat and displays it like Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune before saying, “Okay, I get it. You think I’m just milking it for attention.”
Eddie lets out a thinly veiled snort. He shakes his head and finally looks down to his shoes, trying his best to hide his smile. Was this guy for real?
“Ooh. Was that a laugh I heard? Are my jokes ap-peel-ing to you?” He pauses to use the scale to weigh the bananas. He looks up at Eddie to ridiculously wiggle his eyebrows.
Eddie finally cracks at that, a full laugh, and concedes, “You’re quick on your feet. Definitely less cringey than I thought this would be.”
“I’ll count that as a win. Feel free to join in!” The cashier slides the can of Campbell’s noodle soup across the scanner. “Don’t be chicken.”
Or, Richie works as a grocery store cashier who constantly forgets to wear his name tag and can’t stop serving up puns, but Eddie is kinda into it.

When Eddie accepted Bill's dare to airdrop a selfie to a random person at their school, he didn't actually think the stranger would accept. What normal person would? But then again, any normal person wouldn't have sent Eddie an airdrop back either.

Eddie blinks, wrapping his arms around himself, like the wool of his coat will protect him from whatever the hell is happening, “I’m not going to jump. Why would I jump?” He has to yell just to reach him.

Summary
As it stood, Eddie knew exactly what sort of person he was. He was a shitty, neurotic, repressed as all hell pretentious asshat, and he made every single decision every single day of his life based off of that knowledge. Sure, deciding to get screwed was a weird - but perhaps inevitable - lapse, but he thought he’d chosen the person to screw him quite well. Some average sort of guy on a dating app; no connection, no prospect, no chance in hell of ever having to see him again aside from weird eye contact at an H-E-B seven months after they’d had mind-blowingly average sex.
But Richie fucked all that up about as thoroughly as he fucked Eddie himself. Which, as he thought about as much as he tried to avoid thinking about, was very thoroughly.

Stanford Gymnast Eddie Kaspbrak is just trying to get through one practice at a time and spends more time in the training room getting physical therapy than he does out with friends. His athletic trainer Sam is one of his closest friends at this point. Only she's not just his trainer. She's also the trainer for the baseball team, which means star pitcher Richie Tozier. Eddie has been pining over the baseball hottie for years now, but maybe he will finally get a chance to talk to him after Richie comes to one of Eddie's gymnastics meets.
