Phillip needs guidance, both on how to propose, and on how to hide an engagement ring from his inquisitive girlfriend. Being a researcher, he contacts all Bridgertons to figure out what he'd do best.

“Ah, yes. I would like to marry,” Phillip replied, while he looked up, meeting Anthony’s dark eyes with a purpose. He admired Lord Bridgerton for getting to the point immediately. It was difficult enough to ask for a hand in marriage without ever having met the young lady.
“Congratulations,” Anthony smiled, enjoying the shy demeanour of the man sitting opposite him. “But I’m not sure how I—“ He was unable to finish his sentence, because Phillip barged on.
“I would like to ask for your sister’s hand in marriage.” Phillip looked down, turning suddenly shy. There, he had said it, now he only hoped Lord Bridgerton would give his blessing and it would all be settled within weeks.
“Oh, Mr. Crane, you have to be more specific. You see, I have several sisters.” Anthony leaned back in his chair, wondering what odd creature had walked through their doors asking to marry his sister without specifying which one.
