➺ Mickey doesn't understand why he still feels a sense of loyalty towards his father, not when he had hurt him and Ian so many fucking times. He doesn't understand why, even married, he still finds himself wanting to negate the fact that he's gay. It's time to fucking let go, and he knows it. It's just a lot easier said than done.
OR: How I wish the Terry storyline had gone (and the missing scene between Liam and Mickey we should've gotten).

Mickey’s tone is defeated, and his shoulders barely hold their shape. He’s tired. Exhausted, really. Ian can see that in every line of his body, every curve of his face.
There’s so much that Ian wants to say to him, so much he wants to scream across this phone line connecting them, but he can’t. His head is a mess, in more ways than one, and no matter how fast he tries to parse through his tidal wave of emotions, he can’t figure them out.
He broke up with Mickey. Right?
Only now, he can’t really remember why.
“I don’t know,” Ian says honestly, and hopes it’s enough.

“Uh, who the fuck are you?” Trevor stood from the stool, taking a step toward them and not taking his gaze off of Mickey’s arm so comfortably draped over Ian. Ian still hadn’t opened his eyes, silently willing the earth to swallow him whole, but he could hear the bitchy inflection in Trevor’s voice and knew this would not end well for anyone standing in the kitchen.
Ian finally forced himself to open his eyes. Trevor was apparently going through a repeated series of emotions, going from anger, to shock, to hurt, back around to anger. “Who. The fuck. Is this?”
"That's Mickey," Debbie finally supplied helpfully.
Frank Gallagher has, to the joy of many in Canaryville, finally shed the mortal coil, so naturally Ian leaves his boyfriend in Milwaukee for a few weeks to help Lip get his shit together in the aftermath. What could go wrong?

Summary
Fix-it for Ian and Mickey’s fight during their Hall of Shame episode. You know the one, where Mickey made a dig at Ian’s bipolar.
I got a little upset watching it because it felt so out of character for Mickey to use that against Ian in an argument. And I also felt like Ian would’ve been a lot more upset by that comment than he was. I know the writers were just trying to set up the flashbacks for the episode, but it still rubbed me the wrong way.
So I fixed it instead! Very self-indulgent fic but it needed to happen.
