Summary
The farmhouse didn’t look any different from the last time he had visited with Mumbo. They’d needed to confirm and identify the farmer’s body. It was rather sad actually, he’d stopped coming into town regularly a couple years ago. They all tried to drop by whenever they had time to keep the old man company, but his family had never seemed to come by. He was sure he’d had family, Ren swore he remembered them even coming by when he was younger. But he couldn’t remember the last time he’d actually heard any new stories about them in a while.
It was a bit odd though, he thought that even the driveway looked the same. It was empty, if they’d moved in the night before, he thought it was not to have at least a moving truck. He climbed up the janky porch steps, anticipation manifesting in his tail. He knocked on the door and his ears flicked at the immediate sound of footsteps. The door swung into the farmhouse and a tired looking woman in her 20s stared up at him. “Hello?"
Ren immediately shot out his hand out for her to shake with a wide grin spread across his face. “Hello and good morning My lady! I am Ren Dogwood and am the mayor of our humble little town.”

Summary
How long had it been since he’d last been here? When was the last time he’d stepped foot in his grandfather’s house?
It’d been to long, nothing looked how he remembered.
The property was run down and overgrown. The flower fields and vegetable patches he remembered helping his Grandpa plant had long wilted away.
Weeds and giant roots splintered out of the ground, twisting under the porch warping the wood into an unstable platform.
He looked at Gem hoping to gauge her reaction. Had she changed her mind? Had she finally come to her senses? This was going to take more than a couple months to renovate. Did she see that and decide this adventurer was bigger then they could handle?

He was never sick and always active. Whenever Gem thought of her grandfather, it was of him driving a tractor, or tending to his fields.
That call wasn’t supposed to come for years now, not when she was stepping out of surgery at work.
Or Gem learns her grandfather has passed away and must now convince her brother to move with her into his old house.
