Wilbur lives on the very edge of Castorville, a small town in rural Oregon, warm summers and firefly jars, a treehouse in the backyard, firepits and morning walks to the bakery. It's all he's ever known. He didn't think he ever wanted anything more, even if his family was complicated and even if they were the only people he would consider his friends, he didn't see any issue. He found that keeping those you loved most closest and not extending it any further than that was fine, he didn't see the urgency of gaining as many friends as possible that his peers did. At least..that's what he thought. But theres a new piece of his lifes puzzle, a new person, a person who tests his beloved boundaries.

The problem was that it was Scaramouche. Scaramouche, who left all his work until the morning it was due and then chugged Monster mixed with Red Bull to do it all in one manic sitting before passing out for the following 24 hours. Scaramouche, who had taught him ten different ways to say “have sex” in English and then cried laughing when he tried to repeat them in his Russian accent. Scaramouche, who genuinely believed that the earth was flat but passionately argued on behalf of climate change activists everywhere.
