Summary
Branch struggles to survive after the escape from the tree, only just managing to stay alive. The bunker is slow to dig out, food is hard to find, and every other troll seems to hate him.
That changes when an angel crashes into the woods. She brings magic from another land, giving some to the grey troll.
Dawn raises him, teaches him, cares for him. Yet, as with all good things in Branch's life, she too must leave into a deep sleep.
Branch must make it to adulthood without Dawn guiding him, her flickering light lying in wait for the day she grows enough strength to return.
