Dream exhaled. He was braced against the doorway, and even from several paces away Phil could see him shaking. “Why do you care?”
“I don’t,” Phil said, pulling himself upright again and refolding his wings behind him. “Let’s make that very, very clear: I do not care about you. But I do care about Techno, and he wanted me to make sure you’d still be here when he woke up. So — did you eat something today?”

“Shut the fuck up, George. It’s so hot on this damn planet that it’s the only way to get any airflow up there. How are your balls not sticking to your leg right now?” Sapnap snarled, the hem of his robes trailing behind him.
“You must be coated in sand,” George deflected, re-tucking his stiff-legged pants into his tall boots as he walked.

“He’s a criminal,” Sapnap hisses right back, wide eyed.
“You don’t know that,” George says with a haughty sniff.
That would work better if not for the looming space-raft in front of them. Sapnap flatly looks at the high obsidian walls, tall and foreboding. On its side, in tall, blocky letters carved out of glowstone, the words Pandora Vault - High Security Prison Raft stare back at him. George presses his lips tight together, but doesn’t falter.

Summary
The day after Scar breaks up with Grian, the dead come back to life. Knowing that venturing out alone is a death sentence, the sudden onset of the apocalypse forces them to stick together despite the tensions between them. In the wreckage of the world, they're forced to survive side-by-side, coming to terms with the fact that—try as they might—there's no one they trust more than each other.
“Go!” Grian shouts as the monster charges, putting his whole force into the blow.
Scar watches, frozen stiff as Grian fights until blood and gore and viscera mark the creature up like a Pollock painting.
“What are you waiting for?!” Grian snaps when he finally notices that Scar is still standing there. He grips his weapon tight and attacks a final time, slamming the zombie down—good and dead—and standing panting over top of it, strained but victorious. He starts rushing from the scene, calling back for Scar over his shoulder. “Run!”
And in a way that’s as familiar to him as breathing, Scar chases after him.

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”
