It was obvious now, looking at Eddie, that time had passed like a friend, grazing his features with the sort of tenderness only a loved one could manage. It was his Eddie, the same one who sauntered into the 118 decades prior, just softened.
Buck burst into tears.
Eddie, alarmed, cupped Buck's face, thumbing lightly at the swell of his cheeks. "Buck? Buck, baby, what's wrong?"
Buck sniffled, straining against the burn in his throat to answer. "You're getting old."

“I'm bi.”
Raising his eyes to the rest of the team, Eddie is surprised to find them all staring at him, jaws dropped in disbelief.
So much for warm support.
“What?” Hen finally asks, genuine confusion stamping her face.
“I'm bi,” he says again, more confident… or something like it. “I've been doing some soul searching since Nashville and…” he nods to himself, a shy smile stamping his face as he looks up to his team, “I guess I’m finally ready to share this with you guys.”
They, however, do not share in his whimsy.
“You're joking.” Ravi deadpans.
Or: Eddie comes out wrong—but luckily the rest of the 118 is there to drop kick him out of the closet.

Buck doesn’t think there’s a word big enough for this.
For the way Eddie hums under his breath when he’s stirring something on the stove, hips swaying minutely to music only he can hear. For the way the late-afternoon light turns the dust in the air into slow, lazy constellations. For the way Christopher is hunched over his laptop at the table, mouthing the words as he types with pencil dust smudged across his hand. It’s all so normal that Buck’s heart keeps misfiring, his body still adjusting to the idea that this is his baseline now. That he gets to come home to this. Before he met Eddie, he’d have called a night like this a fluke, a gap between disasters. Now it keeps showing up again and again, stubbornly, like it’s the rule and not the exception.
Or, Buck has a ring in the back of his sock drawer.

“I asked Dad, but now I’m more confused. And you date men, right? But you don’t date Dad. So how do you know you don’t want to date Dad?”

Summary
For the past three Valentine’s Days, Eddie and Buck have been trading off taking their daughter on a date instead of each other. They celebrate together when they have time, happy to show their affections through little gestures and gifts rather than a big, planned out evening. Because this is so much better.
The idea had been Eddie’s. When Isabella was two, Buck had been distraught over the idea of leaving her with Tia Pepa while he and Eddie went out to dinner. So much so that they’d almost skipped it altogether (until they’d been forced out the door and instructed to “spend some alone time together or else”—Eddie knew better than to argue). Later that night, with Buck fast asleep next to him, Eddie came up with the brilliant plan of organizing a date for Buck and Bella the following Valentine’s Day.
For Valentine's Day, Buck and Eddie trade off taking their daughter on dates :)

Summary
Eddie doesn’t eavesdrop. He trusts his children, even when his two beautiful, trustworthy babies are clearly conspiring against their parents. He stops just before the kitchen doorway and listens to the hushed whispers, not catching a thing they’re saying.
A giggle escapes from his daughter and is quickly followed by his son’s shush, which does nothing to stop the giggles. They’re infectious and soon Christopher is laughing right alongside Sephi.
Christopher and his little sister, Josephina, prank their dads.

Summary
It’s their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple. A small part of Buck hoped Eddie would concede to his wishes and agree to the sappy stuff.
That’s not what Eddie wants, so Buck’s made his peace with the idea that they don’t need to celebrate. They show their love for each other 365 days a year, loud and proud. One holiday doesn’t define their relationship.
Despite that, it’s eating him up inside to not shower Eddie with all the love he deserves in one electric display.

Summary
“So, you excited for us to visit?” Sophia asks, from her rectangular screen on Eddie’s phone in their sibling group chat video call. Getting time to orchestrate a group chat across three time zones is an effort, but they’d managed it. She’d only started the group chat for them a while back, when they started making more of an effort to catch up with each other again. Eddie might not love the growing number of group chats he’s now currently a part of, but it makes him smile to see messages and stupid internet things from his sisters, even if he frequently has to get Buck or Ravi to explain the references.
Eddie gives an exaggerated sigh. “I mean, I guess. Might be working. You can find things to do in LA right?”
Sophia sticks her tongue out at him, reminding him that she might be twenty-seven, but she’s also still a bratty seven-year-old at heart.

Eddie's sisters plan a visit to LA to see their brother, beloved nephew, and finally meet the guy their brother's dating. Wine is drunk, bad ideas are hatched, drunk karaoke is performed, and Eddie's missed them a lot.

Summary
They sit. They sit for a while while Buck takes sips from his bottle and pretends not to notice Eddie watching him. He almost considers trying to make some kind of conversation, but his heart feels heavy with the loss and he just doesn't have the emotional energy to do it. So he sits, and he appreciates Eddie's company.
Though, Eddie's constant staring makes him curious.
He turns his head slightly over his shoulder, the one that's lightly touching Eddie's because when he sat down it's almost as if Eddie moved closer, and they lock eyes. For a second only, because when they meet each other Eddie immediately looks away. His eyes divert to the floor that has become suddenly so interesting, but he's not turned fully away from Buck.
Which, if you're fluent in Eddie Diaz, means he's open for conversation.
Buck says "You okay?"
At the same time Eddie says "Marry me."
What.
