If he was Wilbur, he’d have a speech to rattle off. Something poetic that would linger in the minds of all who heard it. He’d say something about Lycomedes and Theseus and all the torrid history floating between them.
But Tommy has never been Wilbur, no matter how much he’s tried.
Tommy smiles, warm and full of all those lazy nights spent on the soft black armchair reading the story of Theseus. He smiles and thinks of Techno the Minotaur laying defeated on the plush grass.

Sam prefers to be referred to as The Warden inside the prison. As much as Tommy hates the guy, he tries his best to respect that wish. Besides, it separates Sam from the prison a little bit, even though they’re so tightly intertwined it’s painful.

Tears freeze halfway down his cheeks as he whines, flipping onto his back. If he’s going to die, he’d like to see the night sky one more time. Wetness soaks through his pants, snow a freezing comfort curling into his hair. A soundless sob tears through him when a sword pricks the front of his chest.
“Tommy? What are you doin’ here?” Technoblade says above him, the white of his eyes apparent even in the darkness. The only light filters from the door and windows, presumably because Technoblade lit a lantern before storming out. “You’re dead.”

(He had looked it up - usually on birthdays, people would wish you a ‘happy’ one as one of the first things they said to you that day. Courtesy, or something.)
Stupid as it is, he is ridiculously excited to hear two meaningless words.
But for some reason, Techno doesn’t say that. Instead, he just pats Tommy on the back, mutters something about breakfast, then disappears down the stairs.

Tommy had always been told by his other foster families that his birthday wasn't worth celebrating. He's used to it.
He is not, however, used to the day being completely forgotten.
