Summary
It all went so quickly. So quietly.
A child was sucked beneath the waves. A parent began to scream from the shore. One of the guards yelled at everyone to get back while they looked on helplessly, blowing on a whistle to try and get someone, anyone to bring a boat around.
And Alberto, without thinking, plunged himself over the side and into the water.

OR: Alberto finds a family, saves a child, and becomes a lifeguard.
Apparently, fisherman coming for the annual (cancelled) Sea Monster Hunt did not get that memo.

Summary
There are many things Alberto doesn’t expect.
He doesn't expect the adoption.
He doesn’t expect to end up with a Papá or a sister.
He doesn’t expect the acceptance. The love. The family or the home.
After years in a tower on an island, he never expected much for himself. But there he is; in his own home, with his own family, with a new name. Loved.
“Luca, have you met my brother? His name is Alberto! Alberto Marcovaldo!”
Luca sniffled, eyes trimmed green and blue as he took Alberto’s hand and held it in reminiscence of their old greeting, “Hello, Alberto Marcovaldo. It’s nice to meet you. Again.”
He didn’t expect it, but he holds it close, hoping desperately that it’s here to stay.

Alberto never expected his father to return, either.With all the unexpectedness, perhaps he should have expected the worst.

Summary
“Remember, we must be up early tomorrow – we have an order from Signora Marsigliese to fill for her party. Buona notte.”
Alberto returns the sentiment, then follows his Papà up the stairs. He momentarily toys with the idea of mentioning the feeling that’s been bothering him since the afternoon, but ultimately decides against it. He’s convinced he’s imagining the whole thing, and he doesn’t want to worry anyone over what is most likely nothing.
It’s all in his head; just another stupid Bruno that needs banishing.
It’s fine.
