Summary
This is loosely based off of the Disney/Pixar movie “Luca”, and it tells the story of Giulia, Luca, Alberto, and many other familiar characters from the movie. The ages are not accurate to the movie, because I wrote this before the directors confirmed the kids’ actual ages, but the age difference is very slight, as in this story, they are only a couple months older than in the film. Mentions of child abuse and abandonment are involved in this story, from Alberto’s father. Also, Alberto and Luca have a rather close-knit friendship, and Giulia can act bit like a jerk, but deep down, she really loves her friends.
There’s also a song from “The Rescuers” in here, and both “Luca” and “The Rescuers” are created by Disney. They are not my own work. So, the credit goes to them.
Enjoy, and feel free to leave some constructive criticism!! There might be a few grammar errors in here, but I’ll fix those when I have time to do it.

Well, maybe he could be, if Luca was here. Life would be so much easier with his best friend by his side. Without him, it feels a lot harder. He can still manage, of course. It’s just hard. Hard and lonely. Even though he couldn’t be happier. Really, he couldn’t.

Summary
Aside from some deep-rooted primal instincts suddenly making things difficult, Alberto feels things are going quite well. He’s working hard and summer has arrived so that means Luca and Giulia would be returning!
Everything is great! Until saving a child results in him seeing his father again. Bruno Scorfano is back and Alberto is frightened. With his father comes the true nature of his subspecies and the fear of everything he’s worked so hard on, coming to an end.
Would everyone accept him for what he is and has done? Or would they leave him in disgust and fear? His Papa seems to think they will.

Five years after the summer Alberto Scorfano met his two best friends, he’s proud to say he’s already well-versed in how to human. Sailing a boat? Check. Handling harbour market sales? Check. Using his sea monster form to help Signor Marcovaldo collect the best barnacles? Check. Other knowledge has eluded him, though—for example, the appropriate name for the way his heart races every time Luca calls him “caro”.
When June of 1968 arrives to Porto Rosso, and Giulia and Luca return from Geneva with troublesome news, Alberto wishes things would stay as they were in 1963. But as the Underdogs work together to help Giulia avoid the rigid expectations placed on her by her mother, and life in Porto Rosso gets turned upside down once more, he can't help wondering whether sometimes changes might be the start of something better.
