Red Gaze. His writing can't ever be described in simple book marketing terms: thought-provoking, inspirational, mysterious... It is much, much more than a simple mystery to be cracked, his writing is a sea so deep Dante's been drowning in it ever since they had first discovered his novels after a terrible accident left them with little else to cling onto in life.
His greatness made this socially inept, worthless clockhead become a writer themself.
Although his skill in word play couldn't ever be matched, Dante wished to show their love and respect for their now master through their own stories. They never actually expected Red Gaze to see any of them, let alone comment on one... And it all went downhill from there.
"Red Gaze has commented on my last year's novel. I'm considering wiping my entire existence off of the internet now, thoughts?"

Summary
See, Waffle House is something called a franchise. This means that it has bequeathed its lofty title onto the operation that Dante (technically) runs; a sort of guarantee of quality and consistency for any would-be costumers. It is a sort of quid pro quo; Dante gets to benefit from the franchise’s reputation, and the overarching company that runs the entire thing has Dante on ball and chain for the rest of their entire natural life.
Meanwhile, Hermann and her group are part of another company christened ‘Denny’s.’ Their specific branch of Denny’s ‘happens’ to be right across the street. Waffle House’s land extends some five meters beyond their establishment, after which Denny’s noble exterior brushes up to the property line. This particular quirk of land management ensures that they are locked in constant combat whenever any stray garbage bags blow over the line.
In which Dante runs a Waffle House, and the amount of drama and heartbreak that occurs is at the very least comparable to canon.

Vergilius huffs a silent laugh as Dante reaches up, boneless, and mockingly wipes their soiled hand against his arm with a series of amused ticks. He finds himself following their childish lead. Brushes at their exposed chest and swipes through the mess of mixed fluids gathered upon their stomach, rubs it further into their skin. Their ticking hitches, stumbling over themselves as his nail catches their nipple, and he let a small smirk show at the sound.
It’s pathetically easy to get lost in this little charade of theirs, to dare forget who they are in favor of indulging fantasy.
