There was a place on Simon's neck that Wille's thumb found, a juncture in the soft skin that made him sigh and burrow into Wille's side when he was near sleep, or made him hum and kiss the closest part of Wille when he was at the stove or looking at chips in the grocery store aisle; now it held Wille's thumb as Simon rose and fell on top of him, fingertips measuring his pulse, Wille's other hand holding Simon close. They made sense like this, a series of contact points in their bodies, as though those places knew each other.
Or a reflection on physical touch in Wilhelm and Simon's relationship.

Summary
With both suitcases in hand, Simon looks around and follows the arrows telling him where to go. He walks down a weirdly flat automatic stairway —there aren't any actual stairs on the damn thing, which turns out to be quite good considering his heavy luggage. Simon can’t imagine what it would be like if he had brought everything he needed with him on the plane. A lot of his equipment has already been shipped over to Ms. Persson’s house, where Simon will be staying for the next year.
It hits him, again, that this is real. That Simon truly packed his things, left his mama and his sister behind at Stockholm’s airport with more than a few stray tears, and flew across the ocean in an uncomfortable seat for way too many hours, only to land in Montréal. Where he will be staying for the next year.
Because Simon moved halfway across the globe to live with a billet family to play hockey.

Giving in to his sense of responsibility, Simon goes along with this disaster anyway. It's no wonder, really, that things only go downhill and they get lost in the woods in the middle of a thunderstorm. Forced to hide out in an abandoned cabin together until the storm clears up, Simon quickly learns that Wilhelm might not be exactly who he's made him out to be. “And you’re sure this is fine?” Wille grips Simon’s hand a little tighter. Their thick mittens don’t allow for nearly enough precision while holding hands, but Wille wants to make this work anyways. Least of all because he gets to do this now, hold Simon’s hand in public. He gets to tug him along the rink by his hand, just like the other couples are doing it. Letting go of Simon’s hand would be a waste of a perfectly good opportunity to show off the fact that, unlike last Christmas, he’s very happily in love and being loved back, very publicly and like it’s the most natural thing.
Simon furrows his brows at Wille and lifts his chin in a motion that almost feels a little too defiant for the simple question.
“Told you,” he says, not without a bit of an edge, and Wille gets a little lost in watching the little cloud of his breath puff out above the scarf Wille wrapped around him earlier. “I just need a few more minutes to get back into it. I used to be really good at this.”Or: Wille takes Simon ice skating. Simon isn't very enthusiastic.

Sweet, lovely, persuasive little thing. Wilhelm felt intoxicated every time he so much as thought of him. His mouth ached with the need to say Simon’s name, his lips burned with the memories, and his heart twisted with a tenderness that made him feel almost fragile.
He could only pray it was a temporary madness that would fade with time, because he knew too well that nothing could come of it, not really. Still, he was certain he'd never felt this way before. And he was careful in his assessment, too: he’d always rolled his eyes at the characters on TV shows who whispered, lovesick and doe-eyed, “I have never felt this way about anyone ever.”
Wilhelm is caught in a consuming infatuation with someone who can never truly be his. Struggling to reconcile his feelings, he tries to ignore the longing, but it lingers, a constant ache beneath the surface. Meanwhile, Simon is overwhelmed by the burdens of his work and the unresolved ghosts of his past, leaving little room for anything else. As he navigates his tangled emotions, love seems like the last thing on his mind — until, perhaps, it isn’t.
