Inazuma's borders were open.
It had been the suggestion of the Shirasagi Himegimi to hold a festival of sorts. Of course, the Yashiro Commission would be in charge of this, hosting these guests from faraway lands in their own halls, and attempting to grasp at some form of acquaintance rather than simple political ties. Surely this would benefit the nation greater than superficial friendships made just for the papers?
It couldn't go too wrong.

“What can I help you with?” he said finally, the shadow of a grin on his lips. There was nothing too pleasing about this situation, but it was like his resting expression these days. “I hope you didn’t come all this way for a little chat.”
The man sat across from him was straight-faced. He sat up straight, with his legs planted straight on the floor, stiff in every way. He was stiff when he spoke, when he walked, all the time. Almost everything was done in a straight, stiff way. It was ironic, really. The only reason the Captain found himself able to withstand it was the knowledge on the break in that façade of complete stiffness, something he had wished he’d possessed when they’d first met and begun their meetings.
It was either that or the fact that this man was the type he’d pick up in a bar – it was just something about his face that gave him that impression, a little pull on the heartstrings that occurred each time he felt those old eyes rake over him in contempt solidifying that belief.
Not that this meant anything.
It was not the greatest pull he’d ever felt, but it was there.

Summary
When a Seer is born, the stars bless their ears with a song and places the sheet music into their hands, yet they must find the correct orchestra to play it with. Rather unfortunately for Orion Cupitor, his 'composition' is a duet, and requires a rather annoyingly unobtainable instrument: Tom Riddle. What the stars did not tell him, however, was just how easy it would really be to draw him in.
In case that was unclear, it's the 1930s and Orion Cupitor, a Seer, makes a prophecy relating to Tom Riddle and sees it as his job to uncover its true meaning.

“That’s because you’re a terrible teacher,” Phainon says, petulance in his voice thin over affection.
Only then does Mydei fully turn to his side to face him, eyeing the way the dim light seems to catch the silver of Phainon’s hair. He reaches over without thinking. “Like this,” he mutters, thumb pressing against Phainon’s bottom lip to force the correct shape. “Your tongue here,” his touch lingers. “And don’t enunciate the last syllable too much.”
Or, when Phainon asked Mydei to teach him the Kremnoan language, he expected refusal. Much to his surprise, Mydei agrees. But as the words come easier, so does everything else Phainon was never supposed to understand.

Dawg look at my deliverer shipping himself with Mydeimos we’re cookedIt’s enough for him to click on his Weaver account in a frenzied panic, scroll to the settings, and click “delete”—mashing all the buttons, captchas, and “deletes” until he finally sees the “This account no longer exists” on his page.
“Oh my god,” he mutters, heart racing. He chucks his teleslate on his bed and flops back down.
(In which Phainon, an idol, attempts to run a fan account shipping himself with his childhood best friend, Mydeimos—another idol.)

Dainsleif knows he cannot lie. Not this time. “I’m … from Khaenri’ah. But the memories I hold of it are faded, many of them lost to me already.”
The only memory that will never fade from his mind stands before him in that very moment, regarding him with a fresh spark of curiosity.
The prince is beautiful and out of the question. Impossible.
He is alive – his memory wiped clean, his former self buried already.
“Khaenri’ah, you say?” Kaeya’s confidence wavers for just a second, then his charming smile returns. “How about I buy you a drink and you tell me a couple of your secrets?”

Summary
Kaveh used to think that Alhaitham had mastered the art of ignoring him. The man would remain unflappable as he continued to read his worn copy of The Origins of Enkanomiyan Language, even when Kaveh was a hair’s breadth away from shattering the windows of their house with his severity of pitch.
No amount of screaming, threats to throw things, or violently waving in front of him could get Alhaitham to pause in his thirst for knowledge. As it turns out, Alhaitham literally just turns his hearing aids off so he doesn’t have to listen to Kaveh.
It’s for this exact reason that Kaveh has decided to learn Sumerian Sign Language.

Kaveh learns sign language just to continue bickering with Alhaitham.
