He coughed, he wheezed.
Something came flying out of his throat, his heart sinking in his chest as if it had been stabbed through.
He looked down at the weird mucus he must have got caught in his throat. It was strangely vibrant, a bright yellow that he could see in such a stark contrast to everything else surrounding him.His eyes did not unblur, as much as he rubbed them in a vain attempt for the tears to clear. Once he finally got a small glimpse of the thing that had fallen from his lips, his heart began to race and he once again squeezed his throat, just to make sure that his pulse was still there. It thrummed underneath his fingertips, and his eyes leaked more water. His throat let out a strangled cry.
On the floor beneath him was a single daffodil petal.
