Summary
Set during the first movie. Robotnik's lack of good motor skills lead to Stone accidentally getting injured a few times during the hunt for Sonic. The other agents on the case start to worry about how Stone is treated by Robotnik, and their worry only increases as Stone continues to laugh it off. Robotnik has no idea that Stone is getting talked about behind their backs, and Stone is getting sick of being worried about by the government. Luckily both Stone and Robotnik know how to get people off their case and let them be.

Hope is a silly thing. It has burned Stan one too many times, and yet Stan keeps letting it, fool that he is. “Okay,” he agrees, and folds their hands together. It’s a clumsy fit: Stan’s fingers are thick and calloused, Fiddleford’s spindly and bitten at the nail. “Let’s try to be something good.”
Stan and Fiddleford try to be something good. It takes them thirty years. Companion piece to meltwater pulse, but can be read as a standalone.
