Summary
Caelus shrugged. “If you really want to do this, and you think it might help, then yeah, I’ve got you. It’s about time you did something for yourself, Mr Hero. Be a bit selfish.”
“And what about you?” He spoke with cautious hope, crossing his arms. “How do you feel regarding, erm, being in control?”
Desperate to be free of his constant worries, Phainon asks Caelus to hypnotise him. Put simply, they both find plenty to enjoy in this new dynamic.

Summary
Mel cleared her throat as she walked closer. He didn’t seem to hear her.
“Another late night, I see. Just as dedicated as your partner,” she said, making sure she was loud enough this time.
Viktor briefly looked over his shoulder at her, eyes obscured by a set of goggles. “But pulled in less directions than your partner.” He turned back to his work, that charmingly soft timbre somewhat strained, but far from hostile. “To what do I owe the pleasure, Mel?”
She was surprised he hadn’t simply told her he was busy at that moment. The ever-present threat of death could wreak havoc on one’s patience, a quality she’d witnessed from time to time in her mother. Suddenly, she sympathised with Sky’s lack of success in getting his attention. Why was Mel different in his eyes? Still, not a poor start.
“I was hoping we could talk.”
“About my work?”
“No. I would have brought Jayce with me. This is just between us.”
When Mel realises Viktor has been avoiding her lately, she decides to pay him a visit, passing up a dinner with Elora and Lest. (Set at some point during/between Season 1 Episode 8 and 9).

Summary
Phainon did a few stretches, moving with the automation of one who made a daily routine of these sequences. When Caelus simply sat there sneaking a couple of grapes into his mouth, Phainon regarded him with a quizzical grin. “Are you trying to give yourself a stomach ache? And you’re missing out stretches too? You’re at enough of a disadvantage as is!”
Caelus shrugged, speaking through a chunk of melon. “If you randomly got into a fight, you wouldn’t stretch before. It’s more realistic this way.”
Phainon sighed, rolling his shoulders as he did the same to his eyes. “Truly, a master slacker…”
“When I’m done, the only ‘master’ I’ll be is a martial arts master. Don’t underestimate me just ‘cause I take it easy.”
At Phainon's request, Caelus has a casual sparring session with him. Resting after the fight, their conversation becomes a little more than banter.

“If you weren’t a Chrysos Heir, what would you want to be?”
The sudden question seemed to surprise Phainon, but he understood the intent, deciding to play along.
“I…I’ve never thought about it before. I had nothing until Aglaea brought me in. Was nothing.” He glanced over at the sleeping seal, reviving a cheerier lilt. “Tell you what though, I could get used to looking after these little fellas.”
Grinning, Caelus slapped him on the back. “You’d be a good vet! Or, caretaker? Seal keeper? Whatever they’re called.”
“It’s a lot of responsibility, though there’s plenty of intrinsic value. I swear I nearly melt every time I cradle a pup. They’re almost as irresistibly cute as you. Can you even call it a job at that point?”
After the Seal Slammers event, Caelus and Phainon look after a baby seal together.

Summary
In the vault that was Phainon, much was hidden. His iron insides rusted even as his golden exterior reflected the sun itself. He was treading water as its light warmed his head, while the currents below stirred. Often they only brought shivers. Occasionally, they tried to drag him beneath the waves. Here and there, the smile he wore for others tricked himself enough that the current lost its grip. Dry land, however, remained a distant thing on the horizon.
But when Caelus was around, that distance didn’t seem so great. He was tired. So tired of floating adrift in his own life. This might be his only chance. He had to be brave. He had to tell him how he felt, or he’d never forgive himself. Maybe nothing would come of it, maybe their friendship would be ruined. Caelus was worth the risk. To Thanatos with his inhibitions, there was no choice but to do this. He only had to work out how…
Phainon decides its time he came clean about his feelings for Caelus. With a bit of advice from his friends, he goes for it.
