Summary
Merpeople aren't supposed to visit the surface, Will knows that but he does it anyway. It's there that the young prince meets a kind human boy and makes his first ever friend, quickly forging an unshakable bond.
Until Will's father finds out and rips them both apart by erasing Mike's memory of Will and confining his son to his room.
In a desperate attempt to get back his friendsship and become human, Will makes a deal he really should have thought through some more. Seven years to find mutual love, how hard could that be?

Summary
After Will uses his powers for the first time in the Mac-Z, the entire party knew the game had permanently changed. But what they didn’t know was the consequences this drew. A new psychic link had opened like a door, and now Will and the party must fight against time to stop Vecna in the very place this all started: the Upside Down. Except Mike is the only one who seems to notice. I guess there’s a first for everything.

He hadn’t even been able to think about talking to Will after what had happened.
But that didn’t keep Will from talking to Mike.
Each night, at exactly 7PM, the walkie talkie left almost completely unused on Mike’s bedside table would crackle to life:
“Mike? …Hey, it’s Will. I hope you’re okay, and I just want you to know that nothing has changed. I promise.”
Mike has been plagued for over half of his life by a night that he can't even remember, with only the scars on his body and the names of the dead in the newspaper as any proof of what he'd done. Still, it has eaten at him for years, filling him with guilt and trapping him within the bounds of his monstrous nature. He's had to hide in the shadows of the full moon and chain himself up every month to avoid the same mistakes, but it's getting increasingly difficult to lie to the people he loves about his identity. As his monthly affliction approaches once again, Mike wishes for nothing more than to be free to love without having to worry about who it might hurt.

“Uh-huh,” Mike says faintly, and he yelps when they narrowly avoid the edge of a shining skyscraper, and his hands clutch onto Spiderman instinctively. “Oh – my fucking God, that –”
Spiderman’s fingers press a little firmly into Mike’s shirt. "Just – hang on!"
"What do you mean just hang – was that a pun," Mike sputters, clutching onto Spiderman for dear life as they swing through the city, and he can hear the superhero laugh through the racing wind in his ears, the rumble of it under Mike’s arm wrapped around his middle.
In a city of superheroes, Mike keeps running into Spiderman, much to his dismay.
On a completely different and unrelated note, Mike also attempts to woo and charm his neighbor into a date.
