“I-I don’t understand,” Link repeats, because for once, he truly doesn’t know how it was that he didn’t please this individual. He thought he understood, before, but Revali has grown more and more upset, and Link simply does not understand what he has done wrong to cause this.
He wants to fix this.
It is the first time in his life he can ever truly remember wanting something.
It is as his vision begins to blur (he doesn't know why) that Revali’s expression shifts.

The Blood God and the Angel of Death walk the earth, watching kingdoms fall and lands scorch themselves before their divinity could hope to touch it, before flame might even exist. They watch this broken Earth develop, lost with only a dead God to guide it.
Technoblade and Philza do not claim to be as they are named. They do not deny it, either.
And history always repeats. Trying to execute a God rarely works.

Words in a language few knew of and even fewer speak, a fact that would normally bring him comfort but now only brought frustration. And then he looked at the number. The horrible, circled date on the calendar on his wall that he had been refusing to look at. Because Virgil had one month. One month before everything caught up with him. One month before everything would fall apart. It all had started with a simple deal. A simple, selfless agreement. But now, now that simple transaction is going to destroy him.
Now Virgil Sanders had one month to make himself disappear. All for a simple deal. But then again, things are never that simple are they?
