“I think I—I think—I might be pregnant,” Stede stutters and the floor feels like it drops out from under Ed.
Whatever he was expecting Stede to say, that certainly isn’t it. Ed’s world stands on end, his mind skidding to an abrupt halt. His stomach flip flops like he’s just started the descent on a roller coaster picking up speed and he finds he’s unable to hold himself up any longer, melting down into a puddle next to Stede on the tile. His heart’s pounding in his chest so fast that it seems like time has slowed down. All while he feels Stede’s eyes on him, knowing he’s waiting for a response and trying not to have a full on melt down as he tries to process everything he just heard. He combs a hand down his face, and then something seems to break through his disjointed thoughts hanging on one word.
“Wait—you think or you are?” Ed asks.

Stede Bonnet keeps finding himself caught in situations that require rescue from the fire department, and he's not doing it on purpose! He's NOT! It just so happens that one of the firefighters at his local station is incredibly hot and charming and Stede wants to ask him out, if only he could stop being an idiot for five minutes.

So there Ed is, in this enormous room all decked out in ivory and gold, surrounded by one-percenters and inherited wealth and fucking caviar. And he sits under a canopy of twinkling crystals, and he plays his mood music, and the room slowly fills.
And the bride and groom are nowhere to be seen.
Ed’s starting to feel more and more like a member of the string quartet playing out the sinking of the fucking Titanic.
(Or: Ed's the harpist at a swanky wedding that's gone south. Stede's got his own problems. A one-night fastburn meet-cute: fluff, humour, eventual smut, and a truly obscene description of caviar)

Stede had learned so much about the different ways in which his body could give and receive pleasure these past few weeks. He had discovered a whole other side to himself, a secret bud that he hadn't even known he had been carrying, but that had been waiting for the sunlight in order to bloom. To say it was a revelation would be an understatement.
But sadly, they couldn't spend all of their time wrapped up in each other. There was a significant amount of work to be done to turn their dream of the inn into a reality…
The problem was, though, Stede was constantly finding himself distracted by the sight of Ed. And who could blame him? Ed was right there, doing very sexy things all the time, like sawing or hammering or — or chiseling! Honestly, how was a man supposed to work under such conditions?
