He woke up in a mako spring, naked, and with no recollection of how he got there, why he was there, or even what was happening.
Midgar is destroyed. And everyone is terrified of him. If not, they despise him. But he's Sephiroth. The Hero of Wutai. What went wrong? And who is this man, this small man with the eyes of a wolf who keeps hovering so near, ready to draw his blade at the slightest infraction?
When Sephiroth realizes that something horrible has happened, and that he will be a prisoner regarded with the utmost caution for the rest of his life, he sets out to prove he's not the monster everyone claims, and that he can be their protector once again. And that blonde man, Cloud Strife. Why does there feel to be such electricity when he is close? And why does his existence beckon within Sephiroth things he's never been able to put to words? Sephiroth can't help wanting to grow closer, but he knows that to do so, he will have to work even harder to earn Cloud's trust. But in doing so, will he gain something he's always wanted? Or will it backfire and hollow out whatever goodness is left?

Its pale skin is mottled with bruises and blisters, marred with hundreds of cuts, and obviously long-cold from death. It is merely one of thousands who have died here, upon the table, at Melkor’s hands.
Thousands more will eventually follow. None who enter these halls will escape unmarred.
“There are no others.”

Mairon’s journey, caught between a first love he cannot tear himself away from, and the obsession of a fallen Vala. The last spark of light within a corrupted soul, flickering with hope, betrayal, and reunions across the ages. The primary ship is Eönwë/Mairon, though Angband naturally gets a lot of screentime.

Mairon was perfectly fine with the uneven equilibrium he had found in the later ages of Arda. He has been granted leniency and a way to make up for his mistakes. He has his projects and his research. What more could he desire? Or at least, that's what he thought before a certain Noldorian prince quite literally ran into him and made him yearn for something he'd forced himself to forget.
“You didn’t know?” Fingon snorted sounding almost angry. “Everyone else’s back except for Feanor, his sons, and grandson. Even Miriel’s back.”
“They’re not going to be gone forever. Not if I have anything to say about it,” Fingon grounded out. “I will not let Maedhros vanish forever. I have things I need to say to him.”
