Summary
Title from a hozier song you probably know, Jack abbot comes to terms with the fact that he might be in love with his younger, smarter, wonder of a resident and he feels like shit about it.
He didn't deserve to think of her by her first name, let alone mutter it into the dark as he lay awake at night. He wasn't worthy, not yet at any rate but maybe one day. Maybe some further date where he had more furniture, and more compainionship than a homoerotic friendship and a dog that barked too much.

Summary
Jack Abbot is a mature adult. Jack Abbot does not succumb to jealousy like men Samira’s age. Jack Abbot does not react to taunting like men Samira’s age. This is one of the many reasons that Samira likes him, chose him.
The man across from him smirks, “Does her leg still thump like a bunny when she c—“
Jack Abbot’s forehead connects with the man’s nose.
OR: Jack runs into Samira's shitty ex at a bar. He ends his night at PTMC being assessed for a head injury... whilst Samira is on shift. She is not all that pleased to see him.

Summary
It’s the spring of ‘97 when Michael Robinavitch is dragged into a gay bar for the very first time.
When he meets Jack Abbot there, the two of them are on the cusp of radically different futures: Robby is about to begin his residency, and Jack is leaving for the army. They know better than to get attached - know the timing is wrong, the goodbye inevitable - but something tender takes root anyway. Through every deployment, Jack thinks of Robby more than he ought to; through every failed relationship, Robby wonders about what might've been.
Years later, when their paths cross again at PTMC, the past resurfaces — and though they’re older, more jaded, and scarred in different ways, they find themselves pulled towards everything they left unfinished.

Summary
She hated the feeling of being helpless and needy. Maybe even hated admitting that she had needs. The idea of baring them to someone, even someone she loved, put her on edge. She knew that Jack was offering to take care of her, but she also knew even he had his limits.
As Samira stewed on it, she didn't see the harm in pushing those limits a little. If Jack was going to send her home from work because she was too sick to help other people, then perhaps she'd show him what being too sick to help herself would look like.
