So there was this jar, and it had so much peanut butter still in it, and when his fox nose scented it and didn’t catch any poison or spoilage, what was he supposed to do? Not avail himself of this gift? No. He shoved his delicate little snout right in there and got to licking, but, you know… Elegantly. Definitely not snarfing and making horrible little fox sounds and rolling around on the ground while he went ham on the jar. Sure, he had to work a little bit to get at the last of it, but anything good is worth working for, right? So finally, triumphant, no longer starving, and maybe a little thirsty now from eating half a cup of peanut butter in about two minutes, he’d tried to remove his head from the jar.

Summary
To say that he runs to his car would be incorrect, as he is a Lan, and running is both undignified and unnecessary unless in immediate danger. Nor does he slam his key into the ignition, or aggressively swerve around the cars on the freeway, or have a mild panic attack at the fact he is picking A-Yuan up late from school for the first time ever.
He comes close, though.
By the time he arrives, it’s 4:35PM, and he has imagined about fifty different worse-case scenarios. The door is partly open when he gets to it, a messy label of 104B—Art Room scrawled with chalk on a placard next to the faded wood. As he opens it fully, he expects to see a wailing, terrified child, or perhaps a scene of utter misery and betrayal.
What he finds is his son, hands covered in paint, being sung to by a beautiful, dark-haired stranger.
“Ducks live in the pond, yellow ducks, happy ducks!”
Lan Wangji stops in his tracks.

Seda vestía unos apretados shorts de cuero que eran tan cortos que todo lo que hacían eran abrazar sus caderas exponiendo una franja de sus firmes muslos, botas largas de cuero cubrían el resto, terminando en tacón puntiagudo que hacían que sus piernas se vieran larguísimas y Lan WangJi vagamente sabía que no debería estar mirando mas no podía dejar de mirar aquel antifaz negro que ocultaba con eficacia sus facciones, un crudo contraste con los labios escarlatas del hombre.
Echando un vistazo al segundo tubo, Satín con su larga trenza negra vestía de forma idéntica, sus ojos estaban cubiertos por el antifaz y sus labios eran de un profundo rojo vino. Lan XiChen tragó grueso mientras trataba de conectarse a la tierra.

He loves Wei ying unconditionally, true, but he cannot bear to see Wei ying loving someone else too. Wangji knows he is a selfish man. He never loved himself enough though. Life is strange, isn't it? Others always came first. But for once he realized that he should love and value himself, a bit at least, for a change.
He'll carry his love for Wei ying in his heart with him. Because that's a forever inseparable part of himself and that's who he is. But he'll leave behind the burden of his unconditional and all-encompassing love here because unlike in the past, Wei ying is not alone, there are a lot of people who love him and will take care of him now. And his brother loves Wei ying....and Wei Ying loves him too.
OrI wrote this fic for myself. This is catharsis for me, letting go of versions of Wei Wuxians I've read without knowing and i don't like but who still torture my mind living there forcefully (screams in frustration) And if any fellow sufferers are there, they too can read this and let go.
