He’s as rough and tight-lipped as she would expect from anyone in the middle of a shift moving other people’s shit for hours on end, but she still has trouble doing much more than hanging back, trying not to stare. The way the sun seems to kiss his skin, decorating him with freckles over his chest, down his shoulders, drawing constellations across his back.
She’s staring at his back, why is she staring at his back?
She swallows hard realizing how long she’s been just frozen in place when she hears her own name.
“Viper will need some hospitality in the meantime, a service I’m willing to pay handsomely for-” Oleander continues a sentence she wasn’t listening to in the first place.
“Why would I let a stranger in?” He answers sharply and Viper’s inclined to take offense, but says nothing. Not that he’s wrong. In any case, she’s missed a very important part.“I’m sorry, I’m going where?”
