"There was one call left to be made. One that didn’t include the fireplace and the flo connection, but the telephone landline Remus barely used for anything now that Grant had left. They had been discussing whether or not to make the call, but in the end, the answer had always been yes. Sirius might not have been able to clear his name with the Ministry, but the least he deserved was for the only close friend of his who survived 1981 (other than Remus, of course) to know he was innocent. They decided they didn’t want to break the news over the phone, Mary deserved more than that."

Non-canon compliment fic based off of atyd, so it contains parallels to MKB89's fic as well as some original characters from that same work. Events from Harry's life still somewhat take place towards the end, but with a few adjustments and some major changes (as in people don't die) AKA THIS IS AN ALL THE YOUNG DUDES FIX IT FIC from october 1981 = everybody lives <3

With a bit of smut to come, of course. Loosely inspired by ATYD by MsKingBean89, primarily the personalities, traits, and relationships established within her story.
This is just for fun and to help me process the heartbreak that is ATYD. Purposefully, I have yet to read any "Sirius and Remus raise Harry" works, but I apologize if I accidentally mimic anyone else's work.

“I'm not sure where they are taking him,” Sirius said, voice slightly stronger, “he'll be safe though.”

Sirius hasn't seen Grant in 15 years, not since they were 17, celebrating their last summer of freedom before starting back at Hogwarts while Sirius was starting to realize that what he felt for Remus wasn't so platonic. Now, they're 32. Sirius and Remus are married, Grant is a social worker, and Sirius has hardly paid Grant a second thought in all that time. But when Grant happens to be on a work trip to Wales, and Remus invites him to dinner, Sirius struggles to recognize the role Grant has played in Remus's life.
Set within the ATYD universe in that Grant exists, but divergent in that there was no first or second Wizarding War.

Regulus’ eyes darted to the other two boys, Barty Crouch Jr. and Evan Rosier, then back to Remus not betraying a sliver of emotion.
“Why would you do that?” Regulus asked seeming no more than curious. When Remus responded his voice didn’t waiver.
“Because I’m a werewolf and it was a full moon.”
After the prank almost kills Snape, Remus can’t bear to look at Sirius. He also can’t bear to look at himself. In desperation, he tells his enemies that he’s a werewolf, but instead of trying to kill him, they do something entirely unexpected. They become his friend.
