Summary
That’s what’s so dangerous about Shane. Not the kind eyes, not the temptation, not the little voice in the back of Ilya’s head that he feeds that keeps telling him to fuck it all and choose happiness over duty, over stability, over birthrights and stipulations. The danger is that Ilya has spent a lifetime perfecting the art of keeping things to himself, and Shane—with his empathy and his endless need to know—opens his mouth once and Ilya’s body spits out the truth before he can vet it first. Before he can make sure it’s safe. Not too much, not too vulnerable, not self-pitying, not a lie, but not necessarily the truth either. There is no just right when it comes to Shane.
