When Robby finally goes on sabbatical, Dennis is scheduled exclusively for nightshift. It’s inconvenient, at first, having to take the bus everywhere now that he was completely unaligned with Trinity, but then Dr. Abbot starts to offer to take him home. And then to breakfast before he takes him home. And then just to his own home to sleep instead of his apartment with Trinity. And then, the next thing Dennis realizes, when Abbot kisses him, is that he might be dating Dr. Abbot.

Summary
The first shift was supposed to be just that — a shift.
In, out, professional. Routine.But somewhere between the new scrubs, the late-night tension, and the way Robbie refuses to act the way Dennis thinks he should, something shifts.
Dennis has rules. About work. About distance. About men like Robbie.
Especially men like Robbie.Add to that the expectations Dennis is still trying to live up to, and a certain Trinity Santos, who sees far more than she says… and suddenly, routine doesn’t feel safe anymore.

“That’s quite the shiner, Whitaker.”
Dennis ducked his head when he recognized the warm timbre of Dr. Robby’s voice, studying the floor as he felt the heat rise up across his face. “Yeah, well, you should see the other guy.” He tried to joke, the smile not quite reaching his eyes.
“Mob debt? Bar fight? A jilted lover?”
Too exhausted to think straight, Dennis wished that he’d spent longer on rehearsing his excuse, his mouth opening and shutting uselessly as he tried to think.
Robby had already stepped into his personal space to study him more closely, a finger under his chin to gently tip his head back to see the bruising better in the harsh fluorescent light. This did nothing to help Dennis think, and he tried his best to look anywhere except for Dr. Robby’s warm brown eyes.
An omegaverse AU where Dennis abuses heat suppressants to live as a beta, but someone dangerous discovers his secret and blackmails him. Will Dr. Robby be able to figure out what's happening and help him before it's too late?
