Summary
There's a war, and like any war, there's seperation, tragedy, and risks in this one.
Sokka, the ex-strategist can't go back to the frontlines until his leg is completely healed. He have to sit at home and wait, for his family who are fighting, for his sister and his friends, and his husband who's a general and is fighting against his own father in a cruel war.
There are tons of things he worries about, many bumps in their journey. Will they be able to make it?

Zuko abruptly stopped their dance. There was a little bit of silence as they stood in the middle of the dance floor, the dance floor he and Sokka had rented for their very gay wedding night as his sister informed him that he was, in fact, gay. "Yes...?"
"And you've been officially married to your husband for four hours now."
"Azula, are you sure you're o–"
"Teach me."
Zuko blinked. He could not understand what his sister was trying to say. "I don't understand what you're trying to say."
"Teach me how to attract guys. Or girls. I don't care. Teach me how to find a partner for me like Sokka is to you."

Before he can stop himself, he picks up the phone. Every ring seems to last for eternity. Please, he thinks, be there, pick up, don’t be dead, don’t be gone…
“Viktor?”
His heart jumps. Silco’s voice is muffled, sleep-thick, but oh so achingly familiar. He had not realised until now just how much he missed it.
“You do realise it is 2 o’clock in the morning?”
He tries to speak but no words come out. The guilt, perhaps, has stolen them.
“Has something happened?”
“Papa,” he finally whispers. “Papa. Papa.” And then all of a sudden he is bawling his eyes out, horrible, heaving gasps and sobs torn from his throat, wracking his thin frame, and distantly he is embarrassed, but he cannot seem to make himself stop.
Worn down by the crushing weight of (not actually) unrequited love, workplace disputes, past trauma, and the existential dread that comes with being an overachiever in your twenties, Viktor finally breaks. Papa Silco comes to pick up the pieces.
Returning to his childhood home in Zaun for a long-overdue rest, Viktor must reckon with his past, his future, and the terrifying prospect of allowing himself to be loved and cared for.
