Instead of becoming a mercenary or a smuggler, Hawke instead accepts work from Madame Lusine and spends a year working at the Blooming Rose. The experience is overall quite unremarkable - the work isn't traumatizing or particularly titillating but simply hard work that allows for Bethany to be able to work elsewhere and build her social standing.
