Summary
Kojiro had loved Kaoru for so long that the butterflies that had once fluttered in his chest had withered and died, leaving his heart buried beneath the dust. It hadn’t dimmed his feelings, though, only changed them.
His love was still there but it was different - locked behind doors and chains, contained safely as to not risk him stepping out of line and messing up what they already had.
He couldn’t stand the idea of being parted from Kaoru again.
And then, they went to Miyako.

Summary
Golden eyes broadened upon instant recognition, which was mirrored by a deep cinnabar gaze.
“Kojiro?!” Kaoru asked incredulously, all traces of fatigue in his tone vanished. He knew he wasn’t mistaken, the viridescent hair, traces of ruby in his eyes, strong cheekbones. But he looked so different.
He had grown so much since the last time Kaoru had seen him. Hefty, bearded, striking. Kaoru forgot how to breathe properly at first glance because this was his Kojiro he once knew.
On the other hand, Kojiro didn’t take very long to recognize Kaoru in return, while he was ogling at who may be his long lost best friend.
In a series of unfortunate events, Kaoru, heir to the throne, finds out the commander of an army who once saved his life he must marry to bring peace in the middle of national affairs his kingdom has caused.
To make things complicated, said commander just happens to be Kaoru's long lost best friend who vanished several years ago. Kaoru is sick of it all, and Kojiro is tired. Everyone else is there, along for the ride to cause problems. The story of a fallen kingdom that rose from the ashes.

He doesn't believe in soulmates (or love, really) but signs up anyway, putting both women and men down for the sake of the "joke." He gets paired with Kaoru Sakurayashiki, and they immediately get off to a rocky start—one involving a bruised cheek and a broken nose.
They decide to avoid each other, but when Kojiro spots Kaoru with skate club president Ainosuke in a suggestive manner, he feels something that he shouldn't feel in relation to a stranger—and a man on top of that—he met twice: jealousy.

Kaoru slowly picks up the other frog, carefully petting its back as it’s heavy chest rises and falls with every breath. The sun stretches across the Okinawan sea, glimmering against the calmer blue waves. It’s calm, with a light breeze blowing Kaoru’s bangs out of the way so Kojiro can see his face. Kojiro smiles at him, “Well?”“I wanna name him Kojiro..” he mumbles, holding him up to his eye level, staring him down.
“Okay well lets let them go at the same time!” Kojiro cups his frog, “Ready?”
Loving your best friend for your entire life is bound to be complicated. Kaoru and Kojiro had found themselves loving one another before truly understanding what love is. Yet, returning to normal after realizing you've had these feelings since kindergarten is difficult. This leads the two into complications, but at the end of it all they're still together.

Summary
There is no doubt in Kaeya's mind that Diluc's heart broke on the night of his father's death. Smooth sharp lines like fractured ceramic, missing chips that will forever show the lumpy glue scars of its repair. Kaeya's left his own marks too. Some of those disjointed pieces are of his making. Maybe even most of them. He knows this without seeing it, and he knows too that over the years of Diluc's absence those pieces have most likely melded back into a single blemished whole ─ scabbed with time and distance.
He is wrong. There was never a whole to begin with.
