Maybe she should have cornered Neve before asking Lucanis to come. Told her in no uncertain terms that, as far as Aglais was concerned, Neve didn’t have to choose. Ever since she learned about such arrangements, which were not unheard of in Nevarra and Orlais, she wondered why they weren’t more common. In the room she’s claimed, she pins a notecard to the board behind her desk. Wisps gather around the card, which simply reads, Mage Killer. She leans back against the edge of her desk and holds another empty card in her hand, between two fingers, but she doesn’t yet have anything to write on it.
Neve is a truth seeker, a finder of answers, a detective who always closes her cases. And there is nothing more frustrating to her than an incomplete puzzle.
