"Hey," Steve says after a moment, with all the softness you'd expect were he trying to corner and catch a wild animal. "Are you alright, man?"
Eddie, to his credit, tries to answer. It takes him a moment to find the words so at first he simply nods at Steve, one ringed hand pressing gingerly into his side, right where — oh. Suddenly it makes sense to Steve, like everything's clicked all at once, and he frowns. "Yeah, 'm good, it's just the, uh… the bites, you know?" And yeah, Steve knows. He knows better than most, actually, and the sympathy is all at once evidenced on his face. He can only hope it doesn't come off as pitying. "Quit looking at me like I'm some kind of kicked puppy, Harrington, it's weird."

In these sorts of moments, Dean willingly shows his hurt. And maybe- maybe he will let Castiel help after all. “It’s just… in my head.”

Summary
This—Dean thinks—this is where he wants to be.
It’s a recurring thought. One that he thinks of when he and Cas argue as they climb down the stairs after a hunt, snapping at each other depending on who the man of the day was, reckless enough to almost die, while Sam trails them, chortling like a dying hyena. They would all be aching to the bone, but Sam would bully Cas into ordering a salad along with whatever animal he’s ingesting for the night—because he fought and lost that battle with Dean a long time ago—and Cas would stuff his Romaine in the french fry bag when Sam’s not looking, and Dean would think. He would look at this little unit of theirs, held together by the knowledge that any night could be their last, and Dean would think how every fight is worth it if it means he can come home to this.

“Right,” Dean says. He nods to himself and tries to believe that Cas means it when he says he’s going to stay. “Right, and Jack, he brought you back?”
Cas smiles softly. “Yes, it took him time to figure out how to use his powers in a way that he could reach me, but he succeeded. We had our own reunion and discussion before he brought me here.” He looks back at Dean. “You have, apparently, been quite the talk of Heaven.”
Dean frowns and finally pulls away. He would be worried, maybe is a little bit, because when do they ever really catch a fucking break, but Cas is looking at him with something so fragile in his eyes. Something light and hopeful and sad all at the same time.
“What’d I do now?”
Cas looks at him like his heart is breaking. “You prayed my name to every angel in Heaven for six days straight.”

There was the thud of something heavy dropping as if to announce it’s appearance but Stiles didn’t even have it in him to jump and spasm at the uninvited visitor.
“Go away.” He growled, sounding nothing more than a little baby kitten that just had its milk taken away from it.
Said uninvited, unwanted and unnecessary visitor paused like he was contemplating those words. But then Stiles felt the air move around him and sighed when Derek ventured further into his room.
“You haven’t been to the past pack meetings, I was worried you were hurt.” Stiles can just sense the Alpha crossing his arms over his chest at this very moment. Huffing, Stiles rubbed his face against the soft sheets of his pillow and winced when his abdomen stabbed itself.
“M’ fine. Just want to be left alone right now.”
