Kavinsky is the third of a couple; he should be used to feeling left out of situations, but he wasn't. Especially not in that moment with Ronan hugging Adam on top of a haystack.
Triad Verse is an alteration of an existing fandom universe in such a way that most human cultures normalize triad relationships (those between three people) rather than couples. Couples are seen as "incomplete" and in many places are unable to marry without a third partner.

The Foxes all work at Palmetto McDonald’s and Neil’s arch nemesis of a customer, Riko Moriyama, has a fucking dead body bag in the backseat of his uncles’s BMW while visting the drive-thru (and the body isn't dead?).
Or Neil should never work in customer service, no one should’ve elected Andrew as a manager, Wymack doesn’t have the heart to fire them all when he really should, and Seth haunts the place as a ghost that no one can be fucked getting rid of.

There are awful, exhausting moments where Neil’s body refuses to move, and he lies empty. Maybe that is why he had dropped the bowl, and maybe that is why all the batter is spilled over his lap, and maybe that is why Neil now lays on the kitchen tiles with corpse-bones and gooey honey marrow and skin that cannot piece itself back together today.
Or Neil tries to make Andrew pancakes. The batter ends up all over the floor (and Neil), because sometimes standing is hard. Andrew cleans him up.

Being a puppy, Neil didn’t have to think. His thoughts could simmer to a peacefully silent lull, indulging in an endless eagerness to spend the day curled at Andrew’s feet. If sacrificing his own sense of self is the easy way out, then so be it. Better to be a pet for the Moriyama's than to be dead, after all. A hand around your throat feels better when you're a toy than a victim. Too bad Neil is both.
