Since Shane’s Calvin Klein campaign dropped, it somehow escaped the hockey bubble entirely and spilled into the general public. There are countless TikToks now—not even from hockey fans, just regular people—posting about his husband in tight white briefs that leave very little to the imagination. Every sports show seems obligated to mention Shane Hollander’s Calvin Klein campaign. It’s inescapable in a way neither of them had expected.
At first, Ilya thought it was fun. He was glad the world finally saw his husband as the sexy, talented man he’d always known him to be. He liked interacting with fan posts and edits, even sending them to Shane just to watch the way his face would immediately redden.
But now, the public reaction is a little… much.

“Wait, Mr. Raiders fan,” Rozanov calls.
Constable Sullivan pauses.
“I get a phone call, yes?”
“Sure.” He pulls out his own phone. “Do you know the number?”
Rozanov nods. The numbers all come out in a rush, as though he’s memorized it in one long string and can’t think of any of them separately.
It’s a Montreal area code, the constable notes, as he types it in. As the phone rings, he puts it on speaker and asks Rozanov: “Who is it?”
“Shane Hollander.”
“Fuck off. Who is it really?”
Or: in the midst of the Rose breakup, the Raiders win a game in Montreal. Unable to do what he normally does after Montreal games, Ilya goes out to a club, gets super drunk, and ends up getting picked up by Montreal police for public intoxication. Sitting in a holding cell, the only number he can remember is Shane's.

Then your mother starts talking about my sponsors and savings and suddenly I am giving her my banking information and the phone number of my accountant and I am signing many, many, many papers. She had a scary folder.” Ilya pulls out the scary folder and the thing was thicker than the book Shane was reading. He tosses it on the couch and it lands with a heavy thump. “It was under her chair the whole time and I did not see. The places I had to sign were already highlighted and the date was already written in.”
Ilya tosses his body on the couch. Somehow, he makes less of an impact than the Scary Folder. “She owns me now, yes?”
Seemingly on cue, Shane's phone lights up with a notification that Yuna Hollander has shared a calendar with you.

Drunk Ilya looses a bet, and he's challenged to wear Hollander's jersey to Shane's game.
He's not entirely unhappy with the idea.
Little does he know, it ends up changing the trajectory of their lives.
