Summary
“Some of the cafes in Little Ba Sing Se are reopening,” Bolin tells Wu because unlike him, Bolin has been an active participant in this conversation, laughing and adding his own anecdotes, “you should go with Mako while you’re here.”
There’s something off about Bolin’s tone, but Mako doesn’t have the time or presence to analyze it yet, too busy looking away before Wu looks at him again, his gaze a heavy, solid weight. “That’d be nice,” Wu agrees, and he’s looking at him, Mako can feel it even as he stares fixedly on his plate, pushes the carrots around, sloshing sadly in the sauce from the dumplings. “Just like old times, eh, Mako?”
A small smile slips past his lips, “I doubt they’ll have smoothies already, though.”
“Some sacrifices must be made, I suppose,” he sighs, dramatic and playful, and it hooks a chuckle out of Mako, quiet and sincere.
“You’ll live,” Mako says dryly, ducking down to hide his persistent smile.
“Is that a yes, then?”
*
or, Wu comes to visit Republic City, Bolin and Korra are very invested in their lives, and Mako learns how to take a break every once in a while.

Summary
“What if…” Katara’s voice was barely above a whisper, and she forcibly swallowed the lump in her throat. Her mother’s face floated before her, ash falling from the corners of her eyes. “What if I don’t…” Aang’s lifeless body flashed in her mind, lightning dancing across his spine. “What if I can’t forgive him?”
Forgiveness isn't easy. (And really, who ever said it was?) This fic follows Katara's emotional journey from the events of "The Western Air Temple" to those of "The Southern Raiders," as she experiences firsthand both the challenges and rewards of forgiving others (and perhaps even learns to forgive herself along the way).

Summary
It is the year 107 AG. Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph are summoned to Cranefish City to help with the growing rift between benders and non-benders, but it becomes quickly apparent that something even more sinister is at play. The situation grows more volatile by the hour, and together, the four friends will uncover a plot that threatens the world with war. In a city gripped by corruption, bigotry and greed, where they can trust no one but each other, they will need more than vigilance to stay alive.
(This takes place after the events of the show as well as the comics, but it will not rely too heavily on the events of the comics for its context.)

Summary
Mai is halfway through a serious monologue when she notices Ty Lee and Azula giggling. Suspiciously, she looks between them, and then at Zuko, who looks sheepish and refuses to meet her eyes.
Mai skims quickly over her page of the script and then sees it. At the bottom of the page. A stage direction that says that her and Zuko’s characters kiss.

Summary
“Is that what mom looked like? Did she look like that when you saw her?”
Katara looks up at him from her sewing and gives him a look. It’s the same look he’s always gotten when he’s tried to get this information out of her. It’s a look of frustration and sadness and hurt. It is not a memory she has ever liked to reflect on, seeing her mother dead, and she doesn’t understand why her brother can’t let it go. She doesn’t understand why he keeps pushing her for this information years later.
“Don’t ask me things like that,” she says. “You should know it upsets me.”

Summary
“Ending this war, we’re doing it for her.” Katara internally cursed all the spirits for how self-depreciative, how stubborn, how stupid her brother could be sometimes. In that moment she made a decision; she would do all she could to change that reality. “Just don’t beat yourself up over it, okay?”
Sokka exhaled a quivering breath. “Fine.”

Summary
On the surface the two were completely perfect opposites. When they were children, the village elders would comment on how this was meant to be. Katara was born on a full moon in the dead of winter, and Sokka at the height of summer, at noon. As they got older the differences between them only grew. If Katara could make beads, Sokka could braid. When Katara followed her heart, Sokka relied on the strength of his mind.Where Katara pushed, Sokka pulled.
OR: A Sokka-centric look at Katara and Sokka's relationship throughout the years, taking in everything from the cost of having a father in war to their two years alone to how they love and everything in between.
Sokka's first memory is of Katara.

Summary
Sokka has realized that he’s basically the big brother here, and he takes his duties seriously. Protector. None of them really need to be protected, Toph being a master earthbender and Katara being a master waterbender and Aang being the Spirits damned Avatar, but he takes care of them anyway. They’re all just children of war, and Sokka refuses to let them grow in it alone.
or, Sokka learns how to take care of his friends, wins a war, kisses his girlfriend, and becomes an honorary older brother to just about everyone. Not necessarily in that order.
