Summary
Harry has a long and illustrious history of bad relationships. Or at least- not great ones, and it always looks easy to assign blame. When Dom gets terribly sick and calls Jesse to his side, Harry once again runs away to mourn the rejection in privacy. His current designated girlfriend doesn't stand for such nonsense, gives him a good swift kick into self-reflection. It's hard to know though if Harry and Dom's relationship, such as it is, can survive. And while Louis has been a real wanker in the past he's working on himself and being a true friend. Zayn? He has his moments, is working on himself too, but Harry should probably know better than to keep that soft spot for him.

Zayn is unbothered, being a Wolf- it's what he is. Being in a boyband is a bit more complicated. Especially the Harry Styles part. Zayn does his absolute best to avoid *that* complication, but Harry thwarts his efforts entirely, even if he's done it unawares. And what Harry is unaware of about his own identity has all sorts of painful complications. But Zayn won't, can't give up on Harry. Even if it requires his putting himself on the line.
Misuse of folklore canon, probably. This started out as a silly whim and got all heartbroken and messy. Enjoy.

Summary
Zayn has always been made painfully aware that he's not what his father wants, and when he becomes friends with Liam, an older lad from school, it crosses the line. But that horrible experience finally gives him an escape- from the cruelty and anger and rejection. Sometimes he wonders if he'll ever feel whole though, if he'll ever know or trust his own worth.
And it's hard to understand how Liam could really want him, care about him. Wonderful turns into a terrible, painful separation and Zayn reacts out of unbearable despair when Liam is preparing to leave for Uni, and Zayn must find his own strength, his own place of healing and confidence. That journey will not only bring him to a place where he discovers how much he really does have to offer, but also, to a place to be loved and love again.
Edit: a short, single burst has become much longer. Much more complicated, more elements of an alternative 1D, and a much longer, more complex trajectory for Zayn and Liam (Harry and Louis too, in the background). I have always been way too long-winded..

Set roughly Spring 2024- it's an agonizing truth, and Louis is well-aware, that his love will not cure Liam. It is just as agonizingly true that he will, despite that, continue to love him. Always.
Painful, sad, smut-filled glimpse of Louis loving Liam always. The essential tragedy of loving someone with trauma and addiction. No mention or implication of Liam's death in first chapter.
Second chapter is the truly wishful thinking- please read the note and be aware. There is tremendous pain, but also the happy ending I wish could be real.

In the first, thrilling tour as One Direction, Harry, Zayn, and Liam already know their love for each other. So Harry will be adored and pampered during his first heat. Instead, he's delivered up to a brutal, older alpha who's bought a "date" from Simon. And not only is there no recourse but he's apparently now expected to continue to date his rapist. In desperation, his chosen alphas have a plan for his next heat to make their ties unbreakable, but it's got to stay a secret for now. And then, of course, Harry's growing belly makes secrecy impossible.

Louis invites Harry to visit him on tour because he misses his long-time good mate and Harry joins because he's not on tour and feeling a bit low. They're Really Good Mates...who've managed to spend 14 years trying hard to deny, to even themselves, that they're in love. An unplanned deep conversation and some difficult honesty and it all comes out, with loads of eventual fluff and then smut. And now they don't plan on going anywhere other than forward into the light.

Louis reads explicit Larry fanfic and is motivated. Harry is appalled but he still takes it off on command. Really it's just an excuse for Louis to let Harry know he's in town and he misses him, and Harry is absolutely down (and Taylor doesn't mind a night out with the girls, have fun and be safe!).
Not Larry by common standards: they may never have been a romantic couple, but they'll always love each other. Harry and Taylor are actually in love, but no one really feels the need for exclusive rights and ownership.
