His memories of Tim (and, well, anything) during the Marble Hornets shooting days are pretty much non-existent, but maybe he vaguely recalls Tim calling Brian by something else? It seems, unfortunately, they were right to be skeptical, because when Charlie calls for a ride home he does it through a mouthful of tears.
It’s not the end of the world the date didn’t go well. Not for Charlie, at least. A bit of a stumble in his self worth journey, but it’s not like Dennis and Mac wouldn’t be there to rebuild him again.

The plastic crinkles as Tim pulls the bag open. Several tapes softly clack around inside. He looks back up at Jay.
“You said ‘no more secrets,’” Jay explains. “…you’re not the only one who’s been hiding things, and…well, these were never gonna be posted on the channel, but it didn’t feel right to get rid of them. …at the same time, though, it also didn’t feel right to keep these from you any longer. Not anymore, anyway.”

“They were really desperate to find some sort of coping mechanism for some of us, so they really tried anything they could. DBT, art therapy, CBT, a lot of things. They were grasping at strings to find distractions for some of the kids. I was one of them. They did these in time intervals, so for a while they tried dance therapy. It wasn’t bad, I ended up liking it. Not that I really dance anymore, but I remember some of what we did. Jazz, ballet, ballroom dancing, there was a lot and honestly it was really fun.” Jay’s eyes lit up in response. The idea of Tim dancing was… unbelievably endearing. Tim doesn’t seem the elegant type, he often trips over himself walking up stairs, albeit not as bad as Jay is. Jay is a self hazard. But… Tim rhythmically moving to the sound of music felt so… The thought was mesmerizing. He’d kill to see it.
(Tim teaches Jay to slow dance, and their relationship grows closer.)
