Bode discovers and restores an old piano, and inadvertently restores a part of himself in the process.
“Yeah I don’t know what it is either. Some kind of proto-dashboard? A souped up sand-surfer? But then the sand would get all up in those little black and white keys-”
“Piano,” Bode says. “It’s a piano.”
“Pee-ya-no.” Esta sounds it out, their pouty mouth making a passable go of the syllables, then blowing out a frustrated raspberry. “Still no clue. You know what it’s for?”
“Music.” Bode, never one for words, is quieter than ever, staring down at it whilst trying to parse all the emotions swirling in his chest. His fingers are warm, tingling. He doesn’t realise he’s raised his hand until the pads of his fingers brush along the keys, barely enough to compress them, the synth-ivories worn but familiar under his touch.Series

Summary
It isn't until they're planning a mission to spring a Path informant from custody aboard a star cruiser that Bode remembers he still has an old Imperial uniform stashed away with his things. It's not much - just a set of dress whites and matching kit - but it might be enough to get him in and out of the cruiser undetected.
"Hey, just wanted to check and see if you're rea-" Cal's voice cuts off abruptly, and Bode turns to him standing there with a strained expression on his face, his cheeks burning bright red.
Or: Cal finds out he has an uniform kink, and Bode obliges... but not without teasing him about it first.

After two months of sweating over the checkout counter, Will was more than ready to get away from Hawkins. He was, admittedly, a little excited to spend some one-on-one time with Mike, too, who had spent most of June and July in Michigan teaching math to brainiac summer camp kids. With them both going away to college in just a few weeks, these last few moments of summer were precious.
or, will goes on vacation with mike's family. they get....bored.

Mike can hear the smile in Will's voice when he picks up, and it’s startling how easily he can imagine it.Will, leaning against the wall of his new house. Probably wearing bright colours and flip flops- or whatever it is that Max keeps assuring him everyone in California wears. He knows the exact angles at which Will’s smile tilts, different depending on whether he’s teasing or just excited.
Closing his eyes, Mike tries to remember the angle of El’s smile.
He can't. It troubles him enough to ruin everything.
“Is El there?” he asks. When Will responds, there is no longer a smile in his voice.
Only a couple of Mike's calls to Lenora actually go through, and he never says quite what he means.
Until he does.

Mike caps the cup and slides it across the pickup counter to Will, following it up with a wrapped straw and his wrapped lemon loaf immediately after. “Medium iced chai with oat milk and brown sugar syrup, and a lemon loaf for yellow flannel guy!”
Will grabs his straw, shooting a disapproving look at Mike as he carefully unwraps it. “Remind me to never wear this flannel in public again.” He grabs his drink, slipping his straw into it with steady hands.
“Nah, it looks nice on you. Don’t let me stop you, Just Will.” Mike is grinning so hard his face hurts. He’s more awake than he was previously, most of his exhaustion washing away throughout this interaction.
Will sighs, his cheeks going slightly red at Mike’s compliment, bringing his straw to his pink lips and taking a small sip. Mike watches Will’s gaze travel down to Mike’s chest, his eyes stopping on his name tag for only a second before they dip slightly lower. His lips quirk up into a small smile as he swallows his sip of chai. “I like your pin, by the way.”
Or
Mike works at the on-campus coffee shop and Will really likes iced chais.

“Nothing,” Will says, right into Mike’s ear. “Still feeling good?”
So good. Mike makes sure to not say it aloud this time. “I think,” Mike says slowly, heart pounding, “I need” — Will pulls back just a little, just enough for their noses to bump against each other, clumsy, and Mike bites the bullet — “one more.”
Will is still in Mike’s lap, which is maybe not very platonic of him, and the joint has smoldered its way down to the end, nearly over, all eaten up by the fire. Will swallows thickly, then leans closer, a perfect imitation of their positions from earlier. Mike isn’t sure how long it’s been, but fire has been eating away at him too, this whole time, leaving him on the brink of going up in smoke, slow and burning and so good.“Yeah?” Will murmurs, realization dawning on him, eyes wide. “One more?”
or: Mike’s still new to this whole smoking thing. Will has a few ideas.
