“You’ll come to learn that there’s only one thing worse than having nothing.”
Trying to hold onto his fight, Peter shoots back, “Yeah? And what’s that?”
“To have nothing, after being able to believe you could have everything.”
The streets are dirty, crowded, and the jagged bumps in the asphalt are hardly comfortable to sleep on. They’re home, though.
Peter is just about finished with New York City. It’s gotten impossibly harder to find even a scrap of food, and what little belongings he does have are unlikely to keep him alive through the winter. And the memories. God, the painful memories here.
So he saves up. Makes a plan to get out of there.
Then, somehow, he accidentally saves Tony fucking Stark from a gang of eight mercenaries, and the majestic plan disintegrates into ash.
The worst part about it, he knows, isn’t even that he met Tony. It’s that Tony met him.

Peter startles awake when someone shakes him.
“Sorry, honey,” May says. Peter blinks a couple times and she comes into focus, her hair pulled back from her face. She’s trying not to look a certain way, but he can see it in her eyes anyway. She clears her throat, keeps talking. “But it’s…” She glances away, wets her lips. “You gotta get ready.”
He remembers what day it is, and his heart beats like a drum at someone’s execution. But he tries to put on a mask, make it all seem normal. It’s everything but, despite the fact that he’s been dealing with reaping day since he was born, between himself, Ben and May. That fear that one of them could be taken away. Sent to surefire slaughter. But now Ben is gone, taken despite never having his name drawn from a bowl, and May’s finally safe. Now Peter’s name is in there alone. The last Parker sitting on the chopping block. He doesn’t know how to be. He doesn’t know what normal is, when the Hunger Games are looming on the horizon.

Peter Parker is used to getting hurt. It's almost weekly that he comes home with a new concussion for May to deal with, usually for the few hours it takes before his enhanced healing kicks in.
So when he wakes up with a headache unlike anything he's experienced before, he tries to ignore it and go about his day.
Only, Peter doesn't realise his injury may be more serious than he thought.
OR: Peter Parker has a seizure. Naturally, he decides the best way to deal with it is to avoid Tony and May at all costs.

Summary
Peter Parker has a failed mission that hits him hard and pushes him to the brink of wanting to quit the Avengers. When Tony sends him to a safe house for a month to re-group. This is where he meets Eve, a fireball of power and anger. Their personalities clash at first, but in spending more time with one another, they discover that they may not be as different as they had once thought... Battling against their feelings for one another and drive to better themselves, this fic is a roller-coaster of emotions, with more than a few surprises along the way that will not disappoint.
I'm placing a mild warning here for alcohol consumption, the characters are 19 and 20, which is legal drinking age here in England but I'm including it anyway
This work is post-thanos but Tony Stark and Black Widow live. Strong female lead with questionable morals, all that good stuff. Rated explicit for language and eventual smut in later chapters ;)
